How should early-weaned piglets be given suitable feed?
Early-weaned piglets should be given suitable feed
Weaning is a major turning point in a piglet's life. First, weaning directly causes a drop in piglet feed intake; it generally takes about 7 to 10 days to reach normal intake and enter the stage of vigorous eating, so feed with high digestibility is required, feed energy and lysine levels should be raised as much as possible, the crude protein level of the diet should be appropriately lowered, and dairy products, acidifiers, and other easily digestible feed ingredients should be used. Second, keep them in the original pen and keep them on the original feed. Within half a month after weaning, feed 1 to 2 more times than during the suckling period, and after half a month gradually switch to nursery feed. It is best to feed them until they are 70 to 80 percent full, so that they maintain a strong appetite. Supply clean and adequate water, and anti-diarrhea drugs should be added to the feed.
