Detailed Explanation of Key Points of the Rack-Fattening Feeding Technique
Key Technical Points of Rack-Fattening Feeding
In feeding, the "three-stage" and "two-transition" approach is adopted, which means dividing the entire fattening period of pigs into three stages: piglet, rack pig, and fattening. The planned concentrate feed is concentrated in the two stages of piglet and fattening, while in the rack pig stage, as much green and coarse feed as possible is fed and as little concentrate as possible. The "two transitions" means that when entering the rack pig stage there is a transition period, and when the rack pig enters the fattening stage there is also a transition period. This method can save concentrate feed and reduce feed costs, but the feeding period is prolonged, the growth rate is slow, and the feed conversion ratio is low, which is not conducive to large-scale feeding. It is rarely used in areas with better feeding conditions. Generally, improved crossbred or local crossbred pigs are suitable for this method.
