Key points for vaccine and immunization method selection in free-range chicken farming
The immunization of free-range chickens should differ from that of fast-growing chickens raised indoors, mainly as follows: (1) Choose vaccines of reliable quality; (2) Vaccines should be used in sufficient doses; in the early stage, the dose for drinking-water immunization should be doubled (that is, 2000 doses of vaccine for 1000 chickens), and for eye/nostril drop immunization, 1 to 1.5 times the dose should be used; in the later stage, 1.5 to 2 times is appropriate. (4) Immunization methods: in the early stage, chickens should be immunized one by one by nasal drops, eye drops or oral drops; in the later stage, injection should be used to ensure immunization is properly carried out and the immunization effect is reliable, avoiding the shortcomings of drinking-water immunization.
