Methods and technical key points for separate feeding of male and female broiler breeder chickens
Separate feeding of male and female broiler breeder chickens
Separate flock rearing of male and female chickens during the growing period is very important for improving uniformity. The main purpose is to prevent roosters from sneaking the hens' feed, which makes roosters overly fat while the hens' body weight falls below target, thereby affecting production performance. Because roosters are taller and have longer legs, the roosters' feed buckets can be hung higher, 41 to 46 cm above the ground, to encourage the roosters to jump and get exercise; restriction nets can also be added over the feed troughs or feed buckets of both males and females, with a spacing of 41 to 43 cm. Since roosters have larger heads than hens, the roosters cannot reach the hens' feed, while the hens can eat normally; roosters can also be fed in advance so that they eat their fill early, reducing the possibility of roosters eating the hens' feed.
