Reasonable adjustment of the stocking density of meat-type breeder chickens
Stocking density and flock size are directly related to the uniformity of the chickens. A suitable density can keep the air in the chicken house fresh, keep the litter in good condition, reduce stress, and prevent problems such as feather pecking. In flocks with high density, activity is restricted and growth and development are hindered, leading to reduced uniformity; with low density, the utilization rate of the housing is low. Generally, each flock should consist of 300 to 500 chickens. The suitable stocking density (per sq m) is 18 to 25 birds at 0 to 2 weeks of age, 8 to 10 birds at 3 to 6 weeks of age, 7 to 8 birds at 7 to 16 weeks of age, and 5 birds after 16 weeks of age.
