Lucky bamboo (Dracaena sanderiana) symbolizes "great wealth and high status," and such a fine meaning has led more and more flower lovers to grow it. On top of that, lucky bamboo is quite suitable for water culture and looks clean, making it perfect for placing on a coffee table or desk at home. Growing lucky bamboo also involves a lot of knowledge, such as how to make lucky bamboo grow roots quickly, how to stop lucky bamboo from getting yellow leaves, how to make lucky bamboo grow taller and taller, and so on.

Actually, lucky bamboo is fairly easy to care for. Although it is not as easy to grow as pothos, as long as you master a few little tricks, it is still quite doable. Next, we will share some little tricks for caring for lucky bamboo. We hope they can help flower lovers~

What are the causes of yellow leaves on lucky bamboo?

Most yellow leaves on lucky bamboo are caused by it not having grown roots. Especially newly bought lucky bamboo, which basically has no roots yet. This is a relatively important period for caring for lucky bamboo. Once a week has passed and it still has not rooted, it is very easy for the leaves to turn yellow and the stems to wither. That is because without roots, lucky bamboo finds it hard to absorb nutrients from the water, causing yellowing from nutrient deficiency.

Besides not having grown roots, insufficient light and improper fertilizing can also cause the yellow leaf phenomenon. But in the final analysis, the main reason is still that the root system is not sturdy enough. Nutrients cannot be supplied to lucky bamboo's long stems and leaves.

There are quite a few little tricks for making lucky bamboo grow roots quickly. For example, some flower lovers put rusty iron nails in the vase of lucky bamboo. However, facts have proven that this method is not very practical. Because although rusty iron nails contain iron, they cannot stop lucky bamboo's leaves from turning yellow. So for now, don't use this method.

Add a few drops of "aspirin solution" to the vase of lucky bamboo. It works even better than rooting hormone, and is even more effective than rusty iron nails. Dissolve aspirin tablets in water, and add a little to the vase of lucky bamboo every two days. The "salicylic acid" in it is a natural rooting agent that can make lucky bamboo root and grow extremely quickly.

Using aspirin to grow plants and promote rooting is pretty much common knowledge. Besides being suitable for lucky bamboo, it is also suitable for the cuttings of kalanchoe (Kalanchoe blossfeldiana), geraniums (Pelargonium), and rubber plants (Ficus elastica). The method is to soak the various cuttings in the aspirin solution for 1-2 hours.
