The clivia has a dignified and graceful plant shape, with dark green, upright leaves, large and brightly colored flowers, and bright red fruit. Its leaves, flowers and fruit are all beautiful, earning it the reputation of flowers to view for one season, fruit to view for three seasons, and leaves to view in all four seasons. It is loved by many people. If you can grow a pot of clivia indoors, it is elegant and impressive, and the key point is that it can also purify the air. However, some flower lovers say they cannot grow clivia well. Today I will share a small method, and I hope you like it!

Grow clivia with "it", and after 3 months you will see "amazing results", with side shoots sprouting nonstop and even more flowers!

What exactly is this "it"?

It is actually eggshells and fish bones. Clivia loves fertilizer, but when fertilizing, pay attention to applying less nitrogen fertilizer and more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. Eggshells and fish bones are rich in exactly these nutrients.

Flower lovers can collect eggshells and fish bones from home (the fish scales and internal organs left over from cleaning fish also work). After collecting these things, they all need to be placed in the sun to bake, then crushed and mixed into the potting soil. Grown with this as a base fertilizer, the clivia will show obvious results after 3 months. First, the clivia's leaves will be glossy and shiny, and soon it will burst out many small side shoots. Even when the flowering season comes, it can produce more flowers.

With sufficient base fertilizer supplying nutrients to the clivia, the clivia has the strength to grow and bloom, but its other care cannot be neglected either. Let's take a look together!

1. Watering

Clivia has wide leaves and a tender texture, and requires relatively high soil moisture content and relatively high air humidity. In the hot summer, clivia grows slowly and its roots absorb little water, but the amount of water evaporating from the leaf surface is very large.

Therefore, clivia cannot lack water, otherwise its fleshy roots will shrink, the leaf shape will become thin and weak, and it will be dull and lusterless. When watering, stick to the principle of watering when half dry, and watering thoroughly when you do water.

Usually it is recommended to use a spray bottle, which cleans the leaves, increases humidity and waters all at once. During the flowering period, use the method of watering the roots, but the flower pot must never retain water.

2. Light

Clivia is not strict about light requirements. It likes semi-shade and fears direct light. Because summer air temperature and soil temperature are relatively high, it is easy for the root system to become disordered, leading to unbalanced nutrient absorption and causing phenomena such as neck stretching and leaf bolting.

In addition, due to strong sunlight exposure, transpiration is greatly increased. If watering is improper, the leaf color will become old and scorched yellow, or even wilt.
