What should be noted about the calcium content of laying hen feed in summer?
In summer, pay attention to the calcium content in the feed of laying hens
The factors affecting eggshell quality are mainly the contents of calcium, phosphorus, manganese and vitamin D, etc. First of all, attention should be paid to the calcium content in the laying feed, which affects eggshell thickness, strength and weight, as well as bone ash and eggshell calcium content. As the dietary calcium level increases, eggshell thickness, strength and weight all increase in a curvilinear manner, and all reach their maximum when the dietary calcium level reaches 40%. Eggshell thickness, strength and weight are sensitive indicators for evaluating the dietary calcium nutritional requirement of laying hens. For laying hens during the laying stage from 20 to 40 weeks of age, the dietary calcium level should be 3.3% to 4.0% (daily calcium intake of 4.18 grams).
