Physical control of vegetable pests is effective
For the control of vegetable pests, using physical methods can reduce the use of pesticides and make vegetables truly meet the pollution-free standard. Commonly used physical methods include light trapping, sex pheromone trapping, and sugar-vinegar liquid trapping.

    1. Light trapping

Use moth-killing lamps to trap and kill adult pests such as tobacco cutworm, beet armyworm, and diamondback moth on leafy vegetables, melons, beans, scallions and garlic. Use 220V AC power, and hang one lamp every 15-20 mu of vegetable field. Hang the lamps 1-1.5 m above the ground, and turn them on every evening from 7-9 pm.

    2. Repellency and trapping with colored boards and colored films

Hang silver-gray film in the field to repel aphids, hang yellow sticky traps to catch aphids, whiteflies, leafminers, etc., and hang blue sticky traps to control palm thrips. Using them from the crop seedling stage can reduce the pest population base.

    3. Sex pheromone trapping

Use specialized lure cores for tobacco cutworm, beet armyworm, and diamondback moth to trap and kill adults and reduce pest mating opportunities. Hang 1 sex pheromone lure core for tobacco cutworm and beet armyworm every 2 mu, at a hanging height of 1-1.5 m above the vegetable field, with a effective period of 30-45 days; for diamondback moth sex pheromone lure cores, place 5-6 sex pheromone basins per mu, with 6-8 m between basins, with a effective period of 30-45 days.

    4. Sugar-vinegar-wine trapping

Mix sugar, vinegar, wine and water in a ratio of 3:4:1:2 to make sugar-vinegar liquid, and add 5% of 90% trichlorfon, put it in basins on supports 1 m above the ground, place 3 per mu, cover them during the day and uncover them at night to trap and kill adult pests such as tobacco cutworm, cabbage moth, silver Y moth, leafminers, and black cutworm.
