The livestock economy will shift from a growth-oriented model to one that balances growth with environmental protection. At present, the contradiction between resources and the environment is becoming increasingly prominent, and sustainable development has become a basic strategy for developing agriculture and animal husbandry. Therefore, placing equal emphasis on economic growth and environmental protection will become the guiding ideology for China's livestock development in the new century. The agricultural industrial structure will gradually shift from being dominated by crop farming to being dominated by livestock. Since most regions of our country have not only achieved basic food and clothing security but have begun building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, people's demand for grain is showing a gradual downward trend, while demand for various livestock products such as meat, milk, and eggs continues to rise. In the new century, the proportion of China's livestock industry in agricultural output value will exceed 50%. The focus on traditional livestock will shift to the comprehensive utilization of various animal resources. In recent years, special breeding and wildlife domestication technologies have developed rapidly, and the diversification of human needs and new achievements in genetic engineering have made it possible to comprehensively utilize various animal resources.

Livestock production will shift from being primarily focused on increasing output to being primarily focused on improving quality and increasing variety. The per capita meat consumption of urban residents in our country has already shown a downward trend, and the consumption structure has also changed, with demand for livestock products moving toward "less but better." The dominant practice of decentralized management will shift to intensive, large-scale management. At present, China's livestock industry is still dominated by decentralized management, with most farmers having low technical levels and weak competitiveness. The result of market competition will inevitably lead to the expansion of intensive, large-scale management. The shift from single livestock management to integrated industrial management covering production, processing, and sales. China's industrialized management of livestock is currently in the ascendant, and industrialized management will become the main mode of livestock development. The shift from livestock being mainly in agricultural areas to placing equal emphasis on agricultural areas and grasslands. China's livestock output value has mainly come from agricultural areas, with the proportion from grassland livestock being very low. In the new century, grassland construction and grassland ecological environmental protection will be effectively strengthened, and the status and proportion of grassland livestock will be greatly enhanced.

Sheep farming subsidies

Although sheep prices have remained sluggish for the past two years, the state and local governments still have various subsidies for sheep farmers. The National Agricultural Comprehensive Development Office issued the "Notice on Doing a Good Job in the 2017 National Application Work" on October 12 last year. The notice clearly states that support will be given to specialized large-scale farmers, family farms, farmer cooperatives, and agriculture-related enterprises, through interest discounts and subsidies, with increased interest discount intensity, focusing on supporting agriculture-related enterprises and farmer cooperatives. The fiscal fund interest discount amount for a single interest discount project shall not exceed 5 million yuan.

1. Types of subsidies

(1) Subsidy based on the number of sheep;

(2) Breeding sheep subsidy;

(3) Standardized large-scale farm subsidy;

(4) Related equipment subsidy;

(5) High-tech subsidy

(6) Local or national poverty alleviation subsidy;

(7) Other subsidies;

2. Subsidy amounts

Local subsidy policies shall serve as the standard, with differences across regions. It is best to consult the local animal husbandry bureau or agriculture department in person. However, the main reference standard is still the farmer's farming scale and number. The following is for reference:

(1) For a sheep farming scale of more than 50 sheep, a subsidy of 20 yuan per sheep per year

(2) For a sheep farming scale of more than 100 sheep, a subsidy of 50 yuan per sheep per year

(3) For a sheep farming scale of more than 200 sheep, a subsidy of more than 100 yuan per sheep per year;

(4) A one-time subsidy of 800 yuan per breeding ram of sheep or goat;

(5) For standardized large-scale farms with a slaughter volume of 300-3,000 meat sheep, a subsidy of 250,000 to 1 million yuan.

3. Subsidy conditions

Based on local subsidy policy standards, generally the requirements regarding the number of sheep, sheep pen construction, quarantine and epidemic prevention, and the distance of the site from residential areas must be met. For specifics, everyone can consult the local department responsible for agriculture and animal husbandry.

For example, to apply for a standardized large-scale farm subsidy, the standards include improved livestock and poultry breeds, facility-based farming, standardized production, institutionalized epidemic prevention, harmless treatment of manure, having a standardized livestock and poultry demonstration farm plaque, and for meat sheep: in agricultural areas, more than 250 breeding ewes on hand or an annual slaughter volume of more than 500 meat sheep; in pastoral areas, more than 400 breeding ewes on hand with an annual slaughter volume of more than 1,000 meat sheep, or equivalent.

Dairy cattle farming subsidies

1. For a scale of 300-500 head, a subsidy of 800,000 yuan;

2. For a scale of 500-1,000 head, a subsidy of 1.3 million yuan;

3. For a scale of more than 1,000 head, a subsidy of 1.7 million yuan.

Beef cattle farming subsidies

1. For a scale of 100-299 head, a subsidy of 300,000 yuan;

2. For a scale of more than 300 head, a subsidy of 500,000 yuan.

Pig farming subsidies

1. For a pig farming scale of more than 3,000 head, a subsidy of 800,000 yuan.

2. For a pig farming scale of 2,000 to 2,999 head, a subsidy of 600,000 yuan.

3. For a pig farming scale of 1,000 to 1,999 head, a subsidy of 400,000 yuan.

4. For a pig farming scale of 500 to 999 head, a subsidy of 200,000 yuan.

Farmers and cooperatives applying for farming subsidies need to meet the following conditions:

1. If an agriculture-related enterprise applies for a project, it needs to have legal person status, be registered with the industry and commerce management department and have been operating for more than one year, have a certain operating scale and capacity for sustained operation, have relatively strong economic strength and self-raised fund capacity, have no record of bad credit, and have established an operating management system and mechanism that meets the requirements of the market economy, with standardized management.

2. If a cooperative applies for a project, it likewise needs to have legal person status, be registered and have been operating for more than one year, have no record of bad credit, have capacity for sustained operation and corresponding project construction and management capabilities, comply with the relevant regulations on farmer cooperatives, have clear property rights, standardized articles of association, reasonable operating mechanisms, relatively standardized management, and a strong demonstration and driving role.

3. The requirements for other new types of agricultural business entities applying for projects shall be determined by each province according to actual conditions.

4. The same project unit can only obtain one type of agricultural comprehensive development fiscal fund support method within the same year (based on the fund arrangement year). Simply put, the same type of subsidy can only be received once a year and cannot be received repeatedly.

Recommend a livestock farming website from Taiwan, China - Taiwan Qunying Pig Farming Network. Just like this website, it is the most popular livestock farming website in Taiwan, China, and is very distinctive in breeding and propagation.
However, it is all in traditional Chinese characters, which is rather laborious to read. The website address is:
