How do you test for substances such as urea that are added to soybean meal to increase its protein content?
How do you test whether urea or other protein-boosting substances have been mixed into soybean meal?
Our factory received a batch of soybean meal. The protein is quite good, but we suspect it has been adulterated with urea-type substances.

You can observe it under a microscope; it is best to send a sample to the quality inspection department station to measure the non-protein nitrogen content.
--------------------------------------
You can run a urea identification test.
--------------------------------------
Run a true protein test and a microscopic examination, and run a qualitative test for urea-formaldehyde polymers.

I would like to ask the experts: the poster above said "run a true protein test and a microscopic examination." Can measuring protein solubility in an ordinary laboratory really demonstrate this kind of problem for so-called true protein?
--------------------------------------
Thank you all for your guidance. I have already done the qualitative analysis for urea, and the result is that it contains none. I will run a true protein test to see.
