What to do when plants die

[Spider Plant]

Spider plants (Chlorophytum comosum) like a moist, sunny environment, but too much watering or a lack of nutrients will cause the leaves to turn yellow and the leaf bases to rot.

Pick a small offshoot with roots growing from the stem of the spider plant, and cut it off neatly right at the roots. Prepare half a cup of water in a cup, place the spider plant in the cup, but be sure not to let it sink to the bottom.

Change the water for the spider plant every 2 days. After half a month, new roots will grow. At this point, prepare a flower pot and plant the rooted spider plant normally. Place the newly potted spider plant in a shady spot first, and once it has fully adapted to the potting soil, move it to a sunny spot.

[Pothos]

Tiantian often sees people throw dead pothos into the trash - what a waste! Next time you find that the roots of your pothos have rotted, try the cutting method instead, and you'll get a brand new pot of pothos.

Select fresh pothos stems and cut them into several sections, each about 5-8 cm long. Insert them into the potting soil, and slowly new shoots will grow from the roots. Once the root system is fully developed, transplant them into a large flower pot.

If you're worried about the risk of them dying in potting soil, why not grow them in water directly - Tiantian guarantees you can grow them green and healthy.

Cut off a healthy section of pothos stem, add half a spoonful of white sugar to the water, then place the pothos in it. Change the water once a week, and the pothos will grow beautifully!

[Aloe Vera]

A plant for beauty and skincare, essential in every home, and super easy to grow - that's why aloe vera has become a trendy plant. But plenty of people still manage to kill it. Don't be sad, don't worry - Tiantian will help you sort it out!

Tip out the entire pot of the dying aloe vera, select the part with new shoots and cut it off, then insert it directly into the soil. At first, just keep the potting soil moist - don't water too much. Before long, the shoots will grow.

A simple cut can still save it! Cut the aloe vera from the white part at the base, lay it flat on soft soil, cover the surface with a small amount of soil, and after half a month new shoots will grow!

[Succulents]

Succulents have been trendy plants for the past two years. Tiantian bought several pots, but accidentally watered too much and the roots rotted. Only later did I learn that succulents with rotten roots can be grown like this!

Simply gently cut off the leaves of the succulent - remember to cut them off completely from the stem - then apply rooting powder and let them air-dry in a ventilated place for two days. Once the base has slightly withered, lay them flat on the potting soil with the base inserted about 1cm into the soil. No watering needed - just let them grow.

In less than a month, new succulents will grow from those leaves - it's truly amazing!

[Snake Plant]

Place a snake plant (Sansevieria) in the living room for a high-end, elegant look. But one cup of water too many, and within a few days all the leaves may wilt and the roots rot. At this point, finding a way to save it is not difficult!

Select a snake plant with healthy roots and stems, cut it into several sections about 6 cm long, then air-dry them in a ventilated place for one day.

Prepare a pot of slightly moist soil, insert the snake plant sections into the soil with the base facing down, spray with water from a spray bottle once every half a month, and after one month the roots of the snake plant leaves will have grown well.

If you want to replant a plant with rotten roots,

Simply put, you can just insert the leaves directly,

But if you want a high survival rate for your plants,

You must keep these methods handy,

And you'll achieve lush, thriving growth too~

Preventing root rot in plants

[White Vinegar for Rooting]

It's time for the all-purpose white vinegar to make its appearance again. Mix one cup of water with one spoonful of white vinegar, stir evenly into a solution, and let it sit overnight. Soak the seedlings you want to root in the solution for one hour before taking cuttings - this can significantly increase the survival rate.

[Aspirin]

The salicylic acid contained in aspirin can sterilize and disinfect, reducing bacteria on roots and seedlings. Crush one aspirin tablet and take half of the powder, pour it into 600ml of water to make a solution. Soak the cuttings you want to propagate in the solution for 12 hours - this can shorten the rooting period and help plants grow faster!

[Vitamin B12]

Take a vitamin B12 tablet and add cool boiled water, dilute at a ratio of 1:500, then place the lower cut end of the cuttings in the solution and soak for 2 hours before planting. This not only promotes root growth but also reduces viral infection of the cuttings.

[Hydrogen Peroxide]

When plants are overwatered, their roots will rot. If you notice the leaves turning yellow, a little hydrogen peroxide can pull the plant back from the brink of death. Prepare a solution of one bottle cap of hydrogen peroxide and 500ml of water, choose 50ml and pour it on the soil around the edge of the flower pot, applying once every other day. The hydrogen peroxide will produce bubbles, providing the oxygen the roots need and reducing the chance of rot.

[Wine Bottle Watering Method]

If you're not sure how much water to give, why not let a wine bottle decide for you. Fill the wine bottle with water, insert it into the soil with the mouth facing down, keeping it a little away from the plant roots. When the plant needs it, the water will slowly be released, and you'll never have to worry about water accumulating at the bottom of the pot again.

[Ice Cube Method]

As the weather starts to get hotter, it's time to cool down your plants! For plants that don't need abundant water, adding one ice cube per week ensures they get the right amount of water on schedule, and the slow release of the ice reduces root rot.
