Analysis of the Pros, Cons and Hazards of Using Castor Bean Meal in Ruminant Feed
Analysis of the Pros, Cons and Hazards of Adding Castor Bean Meal to Ruminant Feed
I would really like to know the amount of castor bean meal to add to feed, such as for dairy cows? Beef cattle? Sheep? What amount is appropriate for each?
What is the dosage range for adding detoxified castor bean meal to feed? What is the dosage range for adding non-detoxified castor bean meal? What negative effects will excess cause in ruminants?
--------------------------------------
If it is confirmed to be detoxified, 3-5% for all feeds is the most appropriate; there will be no harm to the animals or animal products, it is just that the ingredient is restricted and prices fluctuate greatly.
--------------------------------------
Oh, thank you. Then what consequences will adding non-detoxified castor bean meal cause in ruminants?
--------------------------------------
The fermentation process in the rumen is theoretically also a detoxification process, so there should be no problem with reasonable use, but I have never taken that risk. If it is not detoxified, several non-protein toxins in castor, especially ricinine, may cause poisoning in animals.
--------------------------------------
Does anyone know what symptoms would appear if poisoning occurs? How much non-detoxified meal would cause poisoning?
--------------------------------------
The effect of castor is not as good as sunflower meal, and I do not know whether the price is suitable compared with sunflower meal
