Why do cows with names produce more milk?
Cows with names produce more milk

Veterinary Medicine Prize: cows with names produce more milk
Catherine Douglas and Peter Rowlinson
Douglas and her cow
Scientists in Newcastle, England, Dr. Catherine Douglas and Dr. Peter Rowlinson, say that giving cows names and treating them like people makes the cows happier and more relaxed, and their milk yield goes up too, raising annual production by 500 pints per dairy farm.
Douglas said, "We are not studying what names are best for cows, but rather changing people's attitudes toward animals, improving the relationship between people and animals, and getting people to care more about animals. Stress produces the hormone cortisol, which reduces milk production. So reducing stress on cows can increase production." Attachment:You need to log in to download or view attachments. No account? A farm with a hundred cows can still remember their names; a farm with thousands of cows makes it very hard.
It can be done for those with exceptionally outstanding production performance.
Cows at cattle shows and super-high-yielding cows all have names.
--------------------------------------
It should work
--------------------------------------
Creative, high high high!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
--------------------------------------
Would it work for breeding pigs? I hope someone tries it.
--------------------------------------
Many breeding pigs in the United States have names; companies that import breeding stock from the United States can see them in the pedigrees, though it is not known how the production situation is. But everyone believes that the production capacity of American breeding pigs is higher than our country's.
--------------------------------------
A bit of culture, perhaps it is because of communication!
--------------------------------------
People's attitudes toward animals affect production performance; this is already widely recognized. Giving a name without changing attitudes will not bring much change
If you can give it a name, you are keeping it as a pet, so of course the attitude is not bad, and of course production is affected
--------------------------------------
Giving names really does have benefits.
--------------------------------------
What floor 8 said is very true, attitude is very important.
--------------------------------------
Based on what she said, it should make sense; stress should be the source of all problems. Give all the cows the same name, and just keep calling it under conditions favorable to them. Call it when feeding, call it when milking... ...do not call it when sleeping.

In China it will still take some more time
