How to adjust the formula when raw material market prices change
Methods for adjusting the formula according to raw material market prices
Market raw material prices change quickly. Pig farms that use premixes, lacking professional formulators, cannot make timely formula adjustments based on raw material prices, making it very difficult for pig farms to use economical and practical compound feed! Below I will introduce a method suitable for pig farms -----Approximate substitution method for feed raw material mixing ratios Generally, premix manufacturers provide a reference formula, such as: corn 65, soybean meal 26, wheat bran 5, premix 4, total 100. With this formula as the base formula, we can derive many formulas based on the raw material substitution ratios in the table below (at the same time, according to the substitution ratios in the table below, we can also preliminarily judge whether the comparative price of a raw material with corn or with soybean meal is appropriate)!Table of Common Feed Substitution Ratios for Pig Feed Formulas (Energy Feed Category)Raw material name | Substitution ratio | Brief description: Corn 100, high energy, high digestibility; pay attention to mold. Flour 20-40, particles too fine, piglets should have less than 20%, growing and finishing pigs less than 40%. Peas 30-60, below 50 kg body weight, can replace at most 30%. Cassava 33, must not be used in excess, otherwise poisoning is easy; use with caution for breeding pigs. Corn with cob 70, pay attention to whether the corn cob is moldy. Fresh corn with cob 60, use up promptly after mixing. Oil and fat 5, be careful not to use any with a rancid oil smell. Sweet potato 33, best used after cooking. Potato 33, must be cooked before use. Paddy rice 50, lower energy than corn, low lysine content. Fine rice bran 33, crude fat content, prone to spoilage, best used fresh. Sorghum 50, varieties without an astringent taste can replace more than 80% of corn. Sucrose 5, suitable for suckling piglets and piglets; good effect, but high cost. Wheat 80, do not grind too fine; using it together with a compound enzyme preparation works better. Wheat bran 25, the general base formula already contains wheat bran, so generally no substitution is needed. Note: the substitution ratios in the table are all ratios for substituting corn, and the mutual substitution ratios of other raw materials can be indirectly calculated through their respective ability to substitute corn; the table below follows the same principle, using soybean meal as the standard protein.Table of Common Feed Substitution Ratios for Pig Feed Formulas (Protein Feed Category)Raw material name | Substitution ratio | Brief description: Soybean meal 100, as the standard protein. Blood meal 20, high crude protein, low digestibility, low isoleucine content; there is a possibility of introducing pathogens. Whole milk powder 100, balanced nutrition, high digestibility. Rapeseed meal (low toxicity) 75, if not detoxified, should not exceed 10%, and piglets should not use it. Corn gluten meal 50, low lysine content, poor palatability, should not be used much. Cottonseed meal 33, crude fiber and gossypol affect its utilization; the undehulled type should not be used for piglets; should not be used for breeding pigs. Fish meal 100, good effect, high cost, often adulterated. Linseed meal 25-50, contains many anti-nutritional factors, and using much of it easily causes soft stools. Malt root 10, contains growth factors, nutritional value varies greatly. Meat and bone meal 100, degelatinized products have high digestibility and high calcium and phosphorus utilization; if quality is not up to standard, there is a possibility of introducing pathogens. Meat meal 100, good digestion and absorption, there is a possibility of introducing pathogens. Peanut meal 50, low lysine; the shelled type should not be used for piglets. Soybeans 25-40, must be roasted; high energy, and using much of it easily makes pig carcasses soft. Sunflower seed meal 50, low lysine; the shelled type should not be used for piglets. Distillers grains 3-7, the amount of baijiu distillers grains is below 3, rice wine distillers grains below 5, beer distillers grains below 7; distillers grains quality varies greatly, so it is best to substitute less. How to use:For example, the formula is corn 65, soybean meal 26, wheat bran 5, premix 4, total 100; if you want to use blood meal in the formula, the table shows that blood meal can replace soybean meal at a maximum ratio of 20%, so the calculated maximum amount of blood meal is: 26% x 20% = 5.2%, but to ensure formula stability, we can choose 4% substitution, then the adjusted formula becomes: corn 65, soybean meal 22, wheat bran 5, blood meal 4, premix 4, total 100. It is worth noting that if the recommended formula contains other raw materials besides corn, soybean meal, and wheat bran, it will involve the issue of a substitution upper limit, so let me explain with an example! Look at the following formula: corn 65, soybean meal 25, wheat bran 2, cottonseed meal 4, premix 4, total 100. The table shows that blood meal can replace 20% of soybean meal, and cottonseed meal can replace 33% of soybean meal, indicating that the use effect of cottonseed meal is better than that of blood meal. Therefore, the proportion of blood meal cannot exceed the amount of cottonseed meal in the formula (although calculation shows that 5% blood meal can replace soybean meal, in this formula, the amount of blood meal cannot exceed 4%; at the same time, considering that the formula already contains the poorer-performing cottonseed meal, we can further consider that the amount of blood meal should be lower than 4%, and when kept at 2-3%, it will not greatly affect the use effect of the formula). This method is an approximate substitution method. It requires that the base formula to be substituted must conform to feeding standards. Within a certain range, substituting one or two raw materials generally will not break the nutritional balance, but substituting too many types of raw materials will cause the formula's nutrition to become unbalanced. Good post, thank you OP
--------------------------------------
The OP's method is simple, convenient, and practical. Thanks for the effort
--------------------------------------
Worth considering, it is empirical value, thank you

Good material, I'll refer to it..........

Good material,

Good material! Very worth learning from@

The experience is very valuable, thank you OP, thanks for your hard work!
--------------------------------------
Substituting in such large amounts is not appropriate, right?
--------------------------------------
Someone is thinking about pig farming, and that is a good thing.

The material is not bad, still learning and applying it, support!!!

A very practical method, thanks for sharing. These are very useful for those of us on the front line
