Causes of Feed Loss in Winter and How to Reduce It
Winter Feed Loss
This season everyone is paying attention to loss. In what ways is it different from summer? Finished product? Raw materials?
Let's discuss, everyone!
--------------------------------------
Loss exists at all times. In winter it doesn't seem as severe as in summer. In winter, the moisture content of finished feed is generally kept relatively high, and the feed is also prone to spoilage that easily.
As for premix, the loss is basically not much different across the four seasons; the loss is relatively high in all of them.
A lot of complete feed is sold by package weight, while incoming materials are measured by net weight. Some plants even have negative loss.
