Corn 62
Rice bran 4
Wheat bran 5
Soybean meal 20 (dehulled)
Silkworm pupae 2.6
Rapeseed meal 1
Unified bran 2
Limestone powder 1.1
Calcium phosphate 1
Choline 0.18
Salt 0.4
Baking soda 0.1
Compound enzyme 0.1
Multivitamin 16g
Glutamic acid 0.1
Lysine 0.34
Threonine 0.15
Arsanilic acid 6g
Olaquindox 7g
Multimineral 1 This is the formula. The feed intake of the piglets is low. Everyone please help me check what is wrong. Thank you.
--------------------------------------
Silkworm pupae is the most suspect; the baking soda can be removed.
--------------------------------------
Please unify the units.
--------------------------------------
The calcium is on the high side. For piglets it is best not to use unified bran. In Sichuan, not many people use glutamic acid as a feed flavoring agent.
--------------------------------------
The main thing affecting palatability may be the silkworm pupae. Baking soda will neutralize stomach acid and will also have an effect.
In addition, this formula has no particular features. If the feed intake is not especially low, it is also normal.

Thank you Dr. Wang for your answer. Yes, the silkworm pupae is the most suspect, but this morning I started making some changes. I am still using silkworm pupae, but switched to a different factory's product (I have used silkworm pupae before with no problem). In addition, I increased the unified bran to 4%, wanting to test the effect of crude fiber.

Thank you Lu Yu for your answer to me. My calcium is around 0.7. What do you think is appropriate? The reason I want to use unified bran is that the crude fiber of this formula is too low. Now I want to appropriately increase a little crude fiber. Glutamic acid is also okay.

Also special thanks to Teacher Xie for the answer. I have a friend whose formula uses as much as 0.3 baking soda in suckling pig feed, and there is no bad feedback on the market. I am rather conservative and only use 0.1, but since everyone says so, I am prepared to try it without it. This time the silkworm pupae may be the main cause, because this silkworm pupae is especially yellow, and it feels like it was treated with some drug; you cannot smell the special odor of silkworm pupae. Good silkworm pupae should be no problem. There is a factory on our side called "Chuanmu," which is the feed general factory of the former Sichuan College of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine. They have a concentrated product called "Strong Piglet Nutritional Powder," which is mainly silkworm pupae, and it sells especially well; ordinary farmers report very good results.

The silkworm pupae was probably fumigated, that is, processed after the pupae died. Tissue death and hydrolysis will break down some proteins, and palatability will greatly decrease, though the appearance may not have changed significantly either. -- For reference only.

Thank you for the reminder, but the silkworm pupae I am talking about is obviously yellowish, seems to have a faint alkaline smell, and does not grow worms; other silkworm pupae easily grow worms.

The western region is a high-calcium area; the calcium content in raw materials and water is high. At the piglet stage, calcium at 0.6% is more appropriate.
