Prevention and treatment of common piglet diseases in the recent period cannot be ignored
Pay attention to the prevention and treatment of common piglet diseases recently
I. Suckling piglets
1. Piglet yellow and white scour. It is mainly caused by low feeding and management levels, poor hygiene conditions in the pens, plus excessive rain in the dog days, a damp environment, and sudden changes between hot and cold weather.
Treatment: All piglets are given intramuscular injection of Boluohui at a dose of 0.2 ml/kg body weight, or intramuscular injection of ciprofloxacin at a dose of 0.1-0.2 ml/kg body weight; and sows and piglets are simultaneously given oral Shibide (main ingredient: biochemical fulvic acid) and Changyankuaizhi (main ingredient: Andrographis paniculata). For piglets with severe symptoms, Chinese herbal medicines for clearing heat and detoxifying, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, and drying dampness to stop diarrhea can also be used at the same time.
2. Piglet exudative dermatitis. There are currently many cases seen in clinics, often occurring litter by litter, with the earliest onset at 6 days after birth, mainly caused by Staphylococcus infection.
Treatment: First, isolation and thorough disinfection. Generally, Chlorine Weiba disinfectant can be used, because piglet skin is very delicate, and Chlorine Weiba disinfectant has the characteristics of low irritation and few side effects. Then the dermatitis areas can be washed with a 0.05% potassium permanganate solution, rinsed clean with physiological saline, wiped clean with a clean cloth, and the affected areas coated with neomycin or erythromycin ointment; at the same time, intramuscular injection of florfenicol, lomefloxacin, etc.
3. Swine pox. Sporadic cases occur mostly among small-scale pig farmers who do not carry out immunization with swine pox vaccine.
Treatment: Antiviral drugs such as astragalus polysaccharide can be injected, and heat-clearing and detoxifying Chinese medicines such as Isatis root, Scutellaria baicalensis, and Phellodendron amurense can be mixed into feed. For ulcerated areas, gentian violet and erythromycin ointment can be applied. At the same time, antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin and florfenicol can be injected intramuscularly to prevent secondary infection.
II. Post-weaning piglets
1. Viral epidemic diarrhea. The incidence of this disease is currently very high, and treatment is also very difficult. It is mainly caused by hot weather and frequent rainy days leading to excessive environmental humidity.
Treatment: If treatment with antibiotics alone is not effective, antiviral drugs must be combined with antibiotics for treatment.
2. Haemophilus parasuis disease. It occurs more often in piglets and feeder pigs weighing 30-60 kg.
Treatment: In the early stage of disease, Funingnike (main ingredient: florfenicol) can be used for treatment, with obvious effect. Once affected pigs show neurological symptoms, there is basically little hope of cure, and most will lead to death.
3. Streptococcosis. At present, it has basically become a common disease in pig farms.
4. Eperythrozoonosis. The dog days are a high-incidence season for eperythrozoonosis, and it mostly appears in the form of mixed infection with other diseases. Therefore, treatment should also adopt comprehensive methods according to different symptoms.
5. Viral enteritis. Treatment: Intramuscular injection of ciprofloxacin at 0.1-0.2 ml/kg body weight; at the same time, oral Changyankuaizhi.
6. Piglet edema disease. Treatment: Intramuscular injection of Liniao Shuizhongxiao (main ingredient: danofloxacin) and Boluohui at a dose of 0.1-0.2 ml/kg body weight; for severely affected pigs, intravenous injection of about 100 ml of 10% glucose and vitamin C, and 0.5-1 ml of furosemide + vitamin B1 and vitamin B12.

When temperature changes greatly, diarrhea is also prone to occur.
