How do you carry out detailed management on a pig farm? Changing your mindset is the key

The key of the keys to detailed management on a pig farm is changing your mindset
Old pig farmerLiuTeacher Liu is now giving us a "Hundred Schools Forum" style lecture series, and after reading it I am deeply inspired as well. I think that for all of us in the livestock industry, this is truly a rare treasure of knowledge, so from this point of view, we must thank Old Pig Farmer Teacher Liu.And for us -- not just for all the livestock people in the livestock community -- I personally believe that the key of the keys to detailed pig farming management is changing our farming mindset, that is, truly treating farming as a career, not raising pigs for the sake of raising pigs, but truly putting your heart into raising the friends that make money for us -- the main subjects we raise -- whether pigs, chickens, ducks or whatever -- to love pigs, love chickens, love ducks, love... (----those are the precursors of our bundles of hundred-yuan bills!)Recently I attended several high-level farming forums or academic seminars. The topics the speaking experts covered were diverse, and the inspiration they gave people was not uniform (to be blunt, there were also snake-oil salesmen, there were flashy-but-hollow ones; I will not comment further to avoid unnecessary disputes), but what the hands-on experts said is truly hard to forget, and this includes the lecture content Old Pig Farmer Liu gave at the Beijing High-Level Pig Industry Forum.Raising pigs looks very simple, but not all pig farmers can make money, and what is more, raising the same number of pigs can yield vastly different profits. The key factor is whether you have done this simple thing of raising pigs with your heart, and whether you treat the pigs you raise like your own family. This is a mindset. The current reality is: any pig farm that loses money either must have an unreasonable site design; or must be unwilling to spend money on the pig barn to warm or cool the pigs; or must lack safety measures and not disinfect according to procedure; or must only want to feed cheap feed; or must not care whether the pigs are full, hungry or thirsty; or must not strengthen daily management and often have pigs fall ill; or must, when pigs get sick, only want to find a vet to cut one open and look, while wanting immediate results from medication; or must, when a certain disease appears, think that using only one certain vaccine will produce instant results; or must have the attitude toward the feeders and technicians of "you eat my food, drink my drink, earn my money, so you should ***"; or must be...... The reality in each case must contain one or more of the above-mentioned "or must" elements. Say it a thousand ways, say it ten thousand ways, all money-losing farms must carry, to a greater or lesser degree, the shadow of the mindset of "only wanting to gain without wanting to invest, only wanting to reap endlessly without working." Eager for quick success and instant benefit!!!Farming today is no longer simply the era of "a handful of rice, a handful of flour, a handful of bran." Everyone knows that in foreign countries it is the rich who raise pigs, while at home it is the opposite. Why? Just look at foreign pig farm equipment, look at foreign pig breeds, look at the foreign technical level in the livestock industry, and you will have your answer. Yes, why do foreign breeds occupy most of China's territory? Some people will say, we Chinese are poor, we do not have that much money to invest, but I want to ask, figure out for yourself the cost of medication and vaccines per pig you raise. And how much is the cost of the dead pigs or culled pigs you fail to cure? How could you bear to spend that money? No money? I do not think so; it is a problem of mindset. Maybe you say, my pigs got sick, can I not give them medicine and vaccines? Just wait for them to die? But the reality is the more you give pigs medicine and the more you give pigs vaccines, the more pig diseases there are instead (of course the pharmaceutical factories and vaccine factories are naturally happy, haha). Did not a "nameless high fever disease" emerge? Even the high fever became nameless, which shows how great the difficulty is!!! What is the reason? Everyone knows it is because the virus mutated, and also because "the viruses of the whole world have united"!!! It is even more the concrete manifestation that the view of "struggling against heaven is endless joy" has received heavy punishment from nature. But what is the root cause of it all???So, I believe the key to managing our pig farms well is to change our current wrong mindset. We must put disease prevention first, prevention is more important than treatment, and avoid the "treat the head when the head aches, treat the foot when the foot aches" approach once illness appears. Put your heart into seeing pigs as our relatives and friends, and then raise them with your heart: do a good job of reasonable planning of the pig farm; do a good job of daily management of the pig farm; do a good job of disinfection and epidemic prevention on the pig farm; do a good job of ventilation on the pig farm, giving the pigs fresh air; manage the pigs' eating, drinking, pulling and sleeping well; manage the pigs' hunger, fullness, cold and warmth well. In short, the effort lies in ordinary times; do not let the pigs be in a sub-healthy stress state. Some people say, I do not know how to do it; some others say, I did it too, but I cannot do it well. In reality these are all cases of not putting your heart into it, not knowing that putting your heart into it can let you learn skills. You can learn in your own pig farm too. A very simple example: a considerable part of our Old Pig FarmerLiuTeacher's experience was all figured out by himself from pig farms, right? How did he learn? I think it must have been by paying attention to observing "inappropriate" phenomena with his heart and then thinking carefully and making continuous improvements, and there is always a time when it gets better. Once it gets better, is that not "learning"? Of course I have not talked in depth with Old Pig FarmerLiuTeacher, but I think he must have put his heart into it, so now he comes out to teach all of us and gives us a "Hundred Schools Forum" style lecture, and we can learn knowledge too. But if we still learn only for the sake of learning Teacher Old Liu's lecture content, then you can only learn the 1 he teaches you and think of 1; teach you 2 and you think of 2; if he does not teach you 3, 4, 5, you definitely will not think there is also 3, 4, 5, or even more! Because your mindset has not changed!!! You have not treated the pigs you raise as friends or family, you have not thought about where the pigs are uncomfortable, and you have not put your heart into observing "inappropriate" phenomena in the pig barn. What Teacher Old Liu teaches us is knowledge and experience. How to use it, how to use it well and flexibly, only by integrating it well with your own pig farm's reality can it play its proper role!!! That is, take the knowledge Old Pig Farmer Liu imparts and go personally "face to face, heart to heart" to communicate with your pigs! The pigs will definitely tell you which places in your pig farm prevent them from growing healthily and quickly. Only in this way will you make big money. If you do not believe it, just try it!!!The way of thinking determines the way out; mindset can change everything, so the key of the keys to detailed management is changing your own mindset. Of course, change in a good direction, "advance with the times"!!!Haha, Old Yang the feed maker is borrowing "Old Pig Farmer Liu's territory" to join the fun and say a few random, very shallow words! Please forgive me, Teacher Old Liu!!! Please forgive me, everyone!!!

In fact, I have always admired people who can work with their feet on the ground, especially in the past few years when the livestock industry was developing poorly. It is not easy for people like Old Pig Farmer Liu to have stayed in this seemingly rather tough industry for so many years; many people changed professions! But after hardship there must be career rewards, and industries also have their ups and downs. Old Pig Farmer Liu Teacher's persistence in doing things with his heart must have brought rewards. I also changed professions before, but fortunately I returned to my own specialty five years ago already. How fortunate! How fortunate! I should learn more from experts like Old Pig Farmer Liu Teacher! Haha

Haha, to be honest, those who go bankrupt are mainly small backyard raisers; few pig farms that treat pig farming as an industry go bankrupt, because they treat it as an industry, so relatively speaking, they have no worries about the future. Haha, I do not know whether what I say is right; if you have different opinions, feel free to raise them, haha! Also to boost the original poster's popularity, haha!

Support the "down-to-earth type" experts. Thank you, Old Pig Farmer Liu.

The teacher speaks very incisively, support!!!

Very well said. The mindset, especially the boss's mindset, or the raiser's mindset, must absolutely change. Outside I have seen so-called farming communities, with dozens of sows, and once you go in you cannot get out. Why? Flies everywhere. When we went in, surprisingly there was no requirement for any disinfection measures. No wonder foot-and-mouth disease broke out over in Tianjin. Life attitude determines it. Sloppy and casual! There is also a boss in Chongqing who does not understand anything himself yet is extremely "confident," and is very harsh with employees, scolding them every day, with the subconscious message being that you eat my food, drink my drink... In the end they all left. Without him, could others not live? Later I inquired and found that those who left mostly did better; one became a manager, one became a pig farm manager, while his farm, haha, I will not say more. If a farm like that is not renovated, even a heavenly master could not save it!
