Imported veterinary drugs are expensive; what makes them better than domestically produced ones?
The price is frighteningly high; what makes imported veterinary drugs better than domestic ones?
A 100 mL bottle of imported long-acting oxytetracycline costs as much as 190 yuan, while the best domestic ones generally cost only about 60 yuan. May I ask the experts, with such a huge price gap, where exactly is the difference between the two? Or rather, what exactly makes imported veterinary drugs better than domestic ones? Before posting to ask everyone, I also considered some points. I wonder whether the differences between them are mainly in these aspects: for example, are foreign veterinary drugs all produced according to human-grade standards, so the price is correspondingly much higher? Do foreign veterinary drugs have to go through many years of clinical trials before large-scale production, while domestic ones only need a few months? Are the side effects of foreign veterinary drugs on pigs far lower than those of domestic ones? Taken together, do these aspects show that imported veterinary drugs have a reason to be expensive?
Thank you, everyone.

There are reasons for both expensive and cheap; why are imported ones so expensive? What is the reason?

Take ceftiofur injection as an example. After intramuscular injection of the same dose of ceftiofur (5 mg/kg), the plasma concentration is 14.8µg/mL for the domestic product and 28.5µg/mL for the imported product, and the time to peak is 2.42 h for the domestic product and 1.34 h for the imported product...... (quoted from an advertisement of a domestic pharmaceutical factory)
Moreover, there are not many domestic companies that can achieve this level.
Thank you, everyone.
