Prevention and Control Techniques for Gosling Diseases

Gosling diseases mainly include the following four types, specifically: Pullorum disease in geese. Pullorum disease in geese is an infectious disease caused by Salmonella. The main symptom is that goslings pass white watery droppings, sometimes with pasting around the vent, and the mental symptoms are not obvious.
Prevention: Prevention through drinking water. Add 0.02%-0.04% furazolidone to the drinking water and let them drink it for 7 consecutive days. Note that the dosage must be measured accurately, and the dosage must not be increased without authorization, so as to avoid poisoning.
Treatment: Add chloramphenicol original powder to the feed at a ratio of 0.12%. Note: treatment must be timely. Once symptoms are found, prevention and treatment should be carried out immediately and must not be delayed.
Symptoms of goose influenza. Goose influenza is an acute, exudative, septicemic infectious disease caused by influenza Shigella or cold viruses. This disease mainly affects goslings aged 15-30 days, and the mortality rate can reach as high as 100%. Its main symptoms are that goslings tuck their necks and close their eyes, reduce or completely stop eating and drinking, have difficulty breathing, discharge nasal fluid, and make snoring sounds. They often shake their heads forcefully as if trying to shake out the nasal fluid, and from time to time bend their heads backward to wipe the nasal fluid onto the feathers of the front part of the body. Because they wipe their noses against each other, the feathers of the flock often appear damp.
Prevention: The preventive measures for this disease mainly include the following three: (1) Do a good job of goose house hygiene, remove feces promptly, and keep the air in the goose house fresh. (2) The temperature of the goose house should be suitable and the humidity appropriate, with regular ventilation. During ventilation, do not let cold air blow directly onto the geese, prevent a sudden drop in temperature, and keep the temperature relatively stable. (3) Add 0.5% sulfadiazine to the feed and feed it for 3-5 consecutive days, which has a good preventive effect.
Treatment: Intramuscular injection of penicillin at a dosage of 100,000 units per bird, twice a day, for 2-3 consecutive days, with relatively good therapeutic effect.
Symptoms of gosling plague. Gosling plague is an acute septicemic infectious disease caused by gosling virus. There are two disease types, acute and subacute, and it mainly infects goslings aged 7-21 days. The main symptom is diarrhea, with the feces mixed with foam and grayish-white in color. The typical pathological change is that the appearance of the middle and lower sections of the small intestine is dark red or yellow-red.
Prevention and treatment. This disease is a type of epidemic disease, and prevention should be emphasized. At present, there is still no effective treatment method or drug, so once the disease occurs, it often causes major economic losses. The specific preventive measures are: (1) Breeding female geese should be vaccinated with gosling plague vaccine 30 days before laying eggs. (2) 5-7 days after goslings hatch, they should be vaccinated with gosling plague vaccine or gosling plague hyperimmune serum. (3) Breeding eggs must be strictly disinfected before incubation. (4) Do not introduce breeding eggs and breeding goslings from epidemic areas.
