What do multi-site (one-site, two-site) pig farming systems mean in pig production?
--------------------------------------
There are generally two types now. In the United States, the two-site system is more common, where sows and suckling piglets are raised together, and weaned piglets and finishing pigs are raised together. The other is the one-site system, where all pigs are raised at one site.

Segregated-site rearing is an effective measure for disease control. At present, there are mainly two-site, three-site and four-site systems.
Practice shows that the results of the 3-site and 4-site systems are almost the same. So the 3-site system is recommended.
In fact, if all large-scale pig farms in China used 3-site rearing, 3.6 million sq km would be needed.
If conditions permit, it is suggested to use the 2-site system, which also works well, that is, separating breeding pigs from finishing pigs.
Large three-site means the distance between two pig farms is more than 1,000 m, while small three-site means about 50 m.

Both the first commenter and the second commenter said it well. I learned something.

Wow, I understand now. It means raising pigs separately at one location or two locations. I learned a lot and benefited from it, thank you.

Chinese-style three-site system: the production area is divided into three sections: breeding pigs, nursery pigs, and meat pigs. In foreign countries, it is divided into three small farms separated by a certain distance. This prevents vertical transmission of diseases (different ages).
