How to select the right pesticides for vegetable pest and disease control
Control of damping-off in eggplant and cucurbits: dress seeds with 40% "Banzhongshuang" at 0.2% of the dry seed weight, or sprinkle 4 g of quintozene per square meter of seedbed, add 4 g of 50% "Fumeishuang" wettable powder, then mix with 40 kg of fine soil to make medicated soil, using 1/3 as a base layer and 2/3 to cover the seed after sowing.
Control of seedling blight in eggplant and cucurbits: apply 45% "Daisen ammonium AC" at 400-600 times dilution to the seedbed 1-2 days before sowing (use with caution at the seedling stage), or spray with 64% "Shaduvon" at 500 times dilution, or 72% "DuPont Curzate EC" at 600 times dilution.
30% "Zhongbing No. 1" wettable powder (developed by the Institute of Plant Protection, Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, hereafter referred to as "developed by the Provincial Institute of Plant Protection") has good control efficacy against both of the above seedling-stage diseases, with the same application method as above.
Control of gray mold in eggplant and cucurbits: when using hormones to spot-treat flowers, add 50% "Sumilex" or "Iprodione" or "Huimeijing" (developed by the Provincial Institute of Plant Protection) wettable powder to a 0.1% hormone solution for control; for prevention, spray with 75% "Daconil" at 600-800 times dilution or 27.12% "Copper Hydroxide" at 500 times dilution; in addition, spray with 50% "Sumilex", "Iprodione", "Huimeijing", "JiaMeiling", "Wanmeiling", "Duomeiling" and other wettable powders at 500-800 times dilution; in greenhouses, 30% "Yixunling" at 0.2-0.3 g per cubic meter can also be used by fumigation.
Control of tomato early blight and leaf mold, eggplant brown spot, pepper anthracnose, cucurbit gummy stem blight and anthracnose, etc.: spray with 80% "DuPont Xinwansheng", 50% "JiaMeiling", "Wanmeiling", "Duomeiling", "Carbendazim", 70% "Thiophanate-methyl", 75% "Chlorothalonil" and other wettable powders at 500-800 times dilution, 10% "Score" at 1500 times dilution, 43% "Fuliku" at 4000 times dilution, or 40% "DuPont Fuxing" at 5000-6000 times dilution. Drenching roots with 80% "DuPont Xinwansheng", 50% "JiaMeiling" at 500-800 times dilution, or 40% "Guakuning" at 600 times dilution can also control Fusarium wilt in eggplant and cucurbits and Verticillium wilt in eggplant.
