The Life and Dreams Hidden in Succulents

Text
Photos and text: This Girl Is a Bit Sweet
I used to know nothing about succulents.
I never knew that the gemstone flower I once left in a corner of the balcony as a child,
which survived stubbornly through wind, sun and rain,
had another name: succulent.
I also never knew
that this plant could reproduce without seeds, using its leaves as the parent.
Some people say, love a person, love a city.
And I, in this city that raised and nurtured me, finally met the matching half of my circle,
and fell in love with a plant called the succulent.
Since then I have been deeply fascinated by their poetic and picturesque names and their delicate forms, which are not flowers yet more charming than flowers.
For me, they are carriers of dreams and memories.
Every attempt, every realization of an idea in my mind is a step forward.
Perhaps just a very, very small step,
yet without accumulating small steps, one cannot reach a thousand miles.
In this process, there is also one person who has always been by my side,
moving forward hand in hand for a common goal.
This is already a tremendous happiness and fortune, making me feel at ease and grounded.
Sometimes I also complain about life and work.
That day, a friend told me,
in this world there is a very long road called dream,
and there is a very high wall called reality.
I am willing to walk the long road, but I will also try to climb over that wall.
It is that kind of friend whose connection is not too intense,
but when you turn around, she is always there.
Always, after a busy day,
lying in bed staring at the empty ceiling,
only then do I feel the urgency of time and how quickly it runs out.
I often ask myself, why live like this.
So I am always searching for answers in every adjustment of angle,
in every moment of pressing the shutter.
Listening to the pulse of the camera, my heart slowly calms down.
I dedicate this to all of you who are working hard for your dreams.
