Method for Selecting the Optimal Formula for Laying Hen Premix
What kind of premix is a good product?
1. Is the lower the price of the premix, the better?
2. Is the lower the price of the prepared complete feed, the better?
3. Is the premix that produces larger eggs the better?
Answer: No
Why?
Chickens eat for energy. Based on the energy level of the feed, chickens can fairly accurately regulate how much feed they consume to meet their own needs, and this is especially evident in white chickens. In other words, the best premix is the one with the lowest feeding cost when meeting the chicken's own needs.
Premix products themselves are neither good nor bad; they are designed differently by different manufacturers according to the selling points they emphasize:
1. If the designed complete feed is low in energy, the chicken's needs are met by increasing feed intake, so the concentration of nutrients in the premix is definitely low;
2. If the designed complete feed is high in energy, the chicken's needs can likewise be met by reducing feed intake, so the concentration of nutrients in the premix is definitely high;
3. Large egg size is not achieved by increasing the protein content in the complete feed. It is determined by the breed, age in days, and body weight of properly raised laying hens, and is inherent to the chicken itself. Artificially increasing the protein content in the feed to increase egg size is a behavior akin to killing the goose that lays the golden eggs; it will cause the chicken mortality and culling rate to rise and shorten the duration of the peak laying period.
Main Indicators for Evaluating Premix During the Laying Period
1. By comparing nutritional indicators such as vitamins and amino acids, one can see the quality level of the product design;
2. If the manufacturer's recommended formula has corn inclusion below 64% and protein-based ingredient inclusion above 24%, then the mixed feed is high in protein and low in energy, and feed intake increases;
3. Check whether the manufacturer's recommended formula includes wheat bran. If wheat bran is included, the prepared feed will have a cheaper surface price but a actually higher feed intake, increasing feeding cost.
4. Calculate the daily farming cost;
5. Whether the various nutrients ingested meet the needs of growth and production
Daily Nutritional Requirements of Laying Hens
Average daily egg production: 57.5 grams per hen
Energy: 315-320 kcal;
Crude protein: 17.5-18 grams;
Methionine: 460-480 milligrams;
Calcium: 3.6-4 grams
Note: If the egg weight produced is higher or lower than 57.5 grams, the daily energy required by the laying hen also increases or decreases proportionally.
Method for Calculating Daily Feeding Cost During the Laying Period
1. Calculate the number of chickens that the energy contained in 1 kg of feed can satisfy
For example: 2728 kcal/kg ÷ 320 kcal/hen•day = 8.52 hens
2. Calculate the daily feed intake per hen
1000 grams ÷ 8.52 hens = 117.3 grams/hen•day
3. Calculate the daily feeding cost
117.3 grams ÷ 500 (grams/jin) X 1.143 yuan/jin = 0.268 yuan/hen•day
Calculate whether the daily nutritional needs can be met:
1. Protein: 117.3 grams X 15% = 17.6 grams
(standard 17.5-18 grams/hen•day)
2. Methionine: 117.3 grams X 0.42% X 1000 (milligrams/gram) = 487 milligrams
(standard 460-480 milligrams)
3. Calcium: 117.3 grams X 3.4% = 4 grams
(standard 3.8-4 grams)
Summary: All three indicators above can meet the daily nutritional needs of each hen.
Through the above calculation, choose whichever premix product has the lowest feed cost.
Important note: Strictly use the premix product according to the major ingredient formula provided by the manufacturer. Because the premix composition of each product is designed so that the content of various nutritional elements in the premix matches the major ingredient formula it provides. Making changes on your own will bring losses to yourself!!!

Very good, very practical, and the viewpoint is novel. I took a rough look and will copy it to study slowly.
