Common Feeds for Meat Rabbits - Energy Feed

Energy feed refers to a class of feed in which the crude fiber content of the dry matter is less than 18% and the crude protein content is less than 20%. It is the main source of energy in the diet of meat rabbits.
1. Feed Types
(1) Cereal grains and seeds Commonly used ones include corn, barley, wheat, sorghum, rice grain, etc. Corn is the most commonly used energy feed for meat rabbits, with high energy content and good palatability. The feeding amount can account for 10%-20% of the diet.
(2) Grain processing by-products These include rice bran, wheat bran, and sorghum and corn husks, etc. Wheat bran is rich in nutrients and has good palatability, but it has a laxative effect. The feeding amount can account for 5%-15% of the total diet.
(3) Processing by-products of sugar, alcohol, etc. These mainly include molasses, distillers' grains, soybean dregs, sugar beet pulp, etc. Adding an appropriate amount of molasses to meat rabbit feed can significantly improve the palatability of the feed and the quality of pellets. The feeding amount can account for 3%-6% of the total diet.
2. Nutritional Characteristics
First, the energy content is relatively high. Cereal grains and seeds contain more than 10.46 megajoules of digestible energy per kilogram; wheat bran, rice bran, etc. contain more than 10.87 megajoules of digestible energy.
Second, the nitrogen-free extract content is relatively high. Generally, cereal grains and seeds account for 71.6%-80.3% of the dry matter content, while bran and rice bran account for 53.2%-62.8%, with a digestibility as high as 70%-96%.
Third, the protein content is relatively low. The protein content of cereal grains and seeds is 6.9%-10.2%, and that of bran and rice bran is 10.3%-12.8%. The essential amino acid content is incomplete, and the levels of lysine, tryptophan and methionine are relatively low.
Fourth, among mineral elements, the contents of phosphorus, iron, copper and potassium are relatively high, while the calcium content is relatively low. However, about 70% of the phosphorus is phytic acid phosphorus, with relatively low absorption and utilization rates.
Fifth, all energy feeds lack vitamins, but because they have the characteristics of small volume, low crude fiber content and high nutritional value, they are the main feed for providing energy to meat rabbits.
3. Precautions for Feeding Energy Feed
First, the nutritional components of different types of energy feed vary greatly. When formulating rations, attention should be paid to diversifying feed types and using them in reasonable combinations.
Second, the palatability order of cereal grain feeds for meat rabbits is barley, wheat, corn, rice grain. Because sorghum has a relatively high tannin content, its feeding amount should be limited.
Third, because energy feed has a relatively low crude fiber content, especially corn, the amount used in the diet should not be too much, so as to avoid causing digestive tract diseases such as gastroenteritis.
Fourth, when using energy feed, in order to improve the digestibility of organic matter, it is best to grind it and combine it with protein and mineral feed, etc., and process it into pellet feed for feeding.
Fifth, high temperature and high humidity environments can easily cause concentrated feed to become moldy and deteriorate. Aflatoxin is highly toxic to meat rabbits, so special attention should be paid when using it.

Corn is very good, but its lysine content is relatively low.

Why not introduce other feeds such as protein feed and mineral feed?
---------------------
I did introduce them, but I do not know why they were deleted. I am feeling quite frustrated right now```````
