Diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases in laying ducks in southern Henan
In southern Henan, most laying ducks are kept in confinement, in artificially built ponds, and most farmers change the water once every morning. During the day the ducks move freely in the shed and pond. Because the climate has been abnormal this year, the weather is always alternating between hot and cold, with a large temperature difference, which easily leads to cold stress and lowers the ducks' disease resistance. Normally, without cold stress and the irritation of harmful gases, even if the flock is infected with a viral disease, respiratory diseases are quite easy to control. Being kept outside the shed during the day, the air quality is relatively acceptable, but at night2000the ducks have to crowd into a shed of only200-230sq m, the density is very high, the air is foul, and harmful gases such as ammonia irritate the mucous membrane of the ducks' upper respiratory tract, weakening the beating of the cilia on the membrane or even breaking them, which opens a pathway for the resident bacteria in the shed (Pasteurella, E. coli) and triggers respiratory diseases.
The respiratory diseases in this area are mainly the result of the combined action of influenza and duck serositis. Below, the author gives a detailed account of the cases visited one by one.
Case: Zhang Yongraises ducks2000ducks at the age of180days
1、 Onset of the disease:The respiratory disease has lasted for about10days, mainly coughing and sneezing. Sick ducks have serous or mucous discharge flowing from the eyes, and in some it dries and blocks the nostrils. The droppings are thin and green or yellow-green, the ducks are lethargic, weak in the legs, unwilling to move, and before death show nervous symptoms such as spasms, head shaking and head nodding. Egg production drops markedly, and deformed eggs and thin-shelled eggs increase.
2、 Necropsy changes:Hemorrhage in the trachea, a layer of fibrin in the pericardial cavity and on the surface of the liver, the epicardium is cloudy and thickened, fibrinous airsacculitis, the air sac wall is cloudy and thickened, and the papillae and mucosa at the junction of the gizzard and proventriculus show severe hemorrhage.
3、 Diagnosis:Based on the onset and the necropsy changes, it can be gradually diagnosed as a mixed infection of influenza and duck serositis.
4、 Medication:Wendukang(4bottles/days)+Ganjiang Saifu(4bottles/days) mixed and fed in a concentrated mash in the morning
In the evening:Antai(4bottles/days) fed in a concentrated mash, used continuously for4days.
5、 Follow-up: the first follow-up after medication:On day3after medication, the respiratory symptoms were clearly relieved, the sounds of coughing and sneezing were much fewer, a few ducks still had mucous discharge at the corners of the eyes, and feed intake began to rise. Second follow-up after medication: the nostrils that had previously discharged mucous showed obvious scabbing, and when the nostrils were pressed by hand, no nasal discharge appeared; deformed eggs and thin-shelled eggs were also clearly reduced, and the laying rate stopped falling.
6、 Recovery period after illness: used continuouslyDuo Chan Wu Jin Danfor a week, the deformed eggs and thin-shelled eggs were gone and the eggshells became glossy, and the laying rate not only recovered but rose by10points!
Seeing thatDuo Chan Wu Jin Danused during the recovery period after illness had such an obvious effect, and hearing the technical expert explain that Duo Chan Wu Jin Dan is a feed additive whose main ingredient is multi-embryo protease, with Chinese herbal medicine as the carrier, and that it can be added for long-term use. Multi-embryo protease can, through the gastrointestinal environment of laying poultry, convert the hard-to-absorb corn germ protein in the feed into essential amino acids, improving the digestion and absorption rate of feed protein; through the surplus protein, it increases egg production, and multi-embryo protease can also synthesize the nucleotides in corn germ into interferon, thereby improving the immunity of laying poultry and controlling the occurrence of disease.
The Chinese herbal medicine used as the carrier can activate ovulation in the ovaries and slow the aging of the oviduct, achieving the goal of extending the peak laying period of laying poultry.
Farmer Zhang Yong began adding Duo Chan Wu Jin Dan to the laying ducks from180days and used it until culling; the flock had no further disease outbreaks, the rearing process remained stable throughout, the laying rate stayed above90%for half a year, the average egg weight increased by3.45g/compared with usual, each duck laid20more duck eggs a year, equivalent to each duck producing1more jin of eggs a year. "Duo Chan Wu Jin Dan" really lives up to its name!5.1jin of eggs, "lays five more jin of eggs" really lives up to its name!
