If you don't do these 3 steps well when propagating Christmas cactus (Schlumbergera) from cuttings, every single cutting will die

The Christmas cactus (Schlumbergera) is a flowering plant I really love. Its leaves are emerald green and thick, very distinctive, and its flowers are delicate and small, dainty and lovely, in diverse and brilliantly colorful hues. It is the perfect choice for decorating a home!
I believe there are especially many friends who love Christmas cactus, and many people like to propagate Christmas cactus from cuttings, but when taking Christmas cactus cuttings, if you don't pay attention to these 3 steps, every single cutting will die, and all your effort will be wasted. Don't say I didn't warn you!
What are those 3 steps? Let's take a look together!
Point one
Cut 2 to 3 nodes of a robust Christmas cactus stem segment. It is recommended to let the cut end dry first, and only then insert it into the soil for propagation; otherwise, inserting it directly into the soil can easily lead to rot and lower the survival rate.
Moreover, before taking cuttings, it is recommended to soak the Christmas cactus leaves in rooting solution. The soaking time should depend on the concentration of the rooting solution, so operate according to the instructions. This can shorten the rooting time and increase the survival rate!
Point two
For the cutting medium, it is recommended to water it thoroughly the night before to keep the soil moist, and then insert the dried Christmas cactus into the medium. You can skip watering for the time being, and water again after the medium dries slightly; otherwise, too much moisture will also directly cause rot.
Moreover, pay attention to shading. A freshly cut Christmas cactus has been separated from the mother plant and has no source of water supply. If the light is too strong, it can easily wilt from lack of water, so shade it, place it in a cool spot, and reduce water evaporation.
Point three
For choosing the medium, if you use only river sand for cuttings, it has no nutrients and does not retain water, so you can add some garden soil, which is full of nutrients and also retains water. Of course, if you have peat soil, it is best to use peat soil plus river sand, which can noticeably shorten the rooting time and increase the survival rate!
When taking Christmas cactus cuttings, do these three steps well, and every single cutting will survive, filling the balcony completely!
