What are the key points for dairy cattle feeding and management in spring?
Rationally combine feed and feeding amounts. For example, soybean cake or peanut cake at 20%-25%, corn and barley at 35%-40%, wheat bran at 20%-25%, salt at 1%, bone meal at 3%-5%, and at the same time, feed sufficient high-quality hay and succulent feed. Generally, feed 3-5 kg of hay per 100 kg of body weight; for every 3-4 kg of green feed fed, the amount of hay can be reduced by 1 kg. However, each dairy cow must be fed at least 6 kg of hay and 15-25 kg of high-quality silage per day. This is because silage plays an important role in reducing feed costs and increasing milk production. Secondly, in the spring diet of lactating cows, root and tuber feeds such as carrots should be added, with 10-20 kg fed per cow per day; generally, concentrate can be fed according to the principle of giving 1 kg of concentrate for every 3-5 kg of milk produced, and the number of feedings should be appropriately increased. Some high-yielding cows can be fed 4-5 times per day.
Strengthen cold protection and warmth. The most suitable temperature inside the cattle barn is 16°C-20°C, and fully achieve the “three warmths”, namely a warm barn, warm feed and warm drinking water. Do not feed frozen or moldy feed, and place the drinking water trough in a sunny, warm spot.
Appropriate exercise. Insufficient exercise will greatly increase the proportion of difficult births and retained placenta in dairy cows, and the fetus is prone to poor development and abnormal fetal position. Therefore, in seasons when the weather is cold and grazing is not suitable, exercise can be strengthened by driving the cows. Keep up exercise for more than 40 minutes every morning and afternoon.
Pay attention to deworming. In spring, dairy cows are susceptible to parasites such as sarcoptic mange mites and cattle lice, so it is best to examine the cattle manure once in spring and deworm promptly.
Pay attention to brushing the cow's body. Brush twice a day, morning and evening, for 3-5 minutes each time, and brush all parts of the body thoroughly without omission.
