Four practical tips you must know for raising mink
1 Mink feed should be properly proportioned
Plant-based feed generally makes up 20%-25% of the daily ration. Among these: cereal grains and seeds must be ground and steamed at high temperature before feeding; vegetables should be washed, chopped, and mixed into the feed to be fed raw.
2 Kits should be weaned at the right time
Mink kits can be weaned 40-45 days after birth. If all the kits in the litter develop evenly, separate the kits all at once, placing 2 of the same body size, sex, and constitution together in one cage for rearing. After 1 week of rearing, house them individually in single cages to prevent food grabbing, fighting, and the spread of disease. If the female mink is thin and weak and lacks milk, remove the female mink and let the young mink remain in the original cage for rearing, then 3-5 days later divide them into cages as described above; for kits that develop unevenly and often fight and grab food, wean them in batches according to body size and feeding ability. First wean the well-developed, larger kits, and leave the poorly developed ones in the female mink's cage to continue rearing, weaning them at any time according to their growth and development.
3 Prevention and treatment of colds in mink
3.1 Strengthen feeding management. When the climate changes abruptly, pay attention to keeping warm, keep the nest box dry and hygienic, and prevent rain and dampness.
3.2 Proven treatment recipes
(1) Oral administration of 10mg phenacetin or 10mg aminopyrine or 20mg tetracycline, once a day.
(2) Intramuscular injection of 50,000 units of penicillin or 0.5ml of Pai Naiding.
4 Prevention and treatment of yellow fat disease in mink
(1) Do not feed fish and meat feed with high fat content and already rancid feed or feed that is not very fresh; add 10-20g of wheat sprouts or cottonseed oil to the feed.
(2) Treat sick mink promptly. You can mix and grind 5g of Vb and 5g of Ve, mix into the feed, once a day, for 7 consecutive days. Or separately inject 0.5-1ml of Ve intramuscularly (1ml contains 10g) and 3-5g of Vb, once a day, for 5-7 consecutive days.
