Seven Practical Tips for High Egg Production in Laying Hens in Midsummer
1. Add watermelon rind. Adding 20 to 30 percent of freshly mashed watermelon rind to the feed has the effect of preventing heatstroke and lowering body temperature, and can raise the laying rate of hens by 9%.
2. Add mung bean soup. Take an appropriate amount of mung beans, wash them, add 10 to 15 times their volume of water, and boil until the skins come off; let the hens eat the beans and drink the soup several times a day. This can raise the laying rate of hens by 10.5%.

3. Provide cold water. Cold water can stimulate the hens' appetite for feed. A hen weighing 1.5 kg that drinks 0.15 kg of clean, hygienic cold water with a salt content of no more than 0.2 percent per day can have its laying rate raised by more than 12%.
4. Add baking soda. Baking soda can maintain the concentration of carbon dioxide in the blood of laying hens and a suitable PH value. Feeding each laying hen 0.3 g of baking soda per day, given all at once in the midday feed, can raise the laying rate of hens by more than 11%.
5. Add citric acid. Citric acid has preservative and weight-gaining effects. Adding 0.05~0.15% citric acid to the daily feed of laying hens can significantly raise the laying rate and also increase egg weight.
6. Feed yeast. Yeast can enhance the disease resistance of hens and improve feed conversion. Adding 2~3% yeast to the daily feed of laying hens can raise the laying rate by 10~20% and at the same time reduce feed costs.
7. Add aspirin. Aspirin can promote heat dissipation from the hen's body. Adding 0.05% aspirin to the daily feed of laying hens can significantly raise the laying rate and also increase eggshell thickness.
