The ZZ plant (Zamioculcas zamiifolia) is a common indoor green plant, evergreen all year round, with straight upright stems and emerald green leaves, full of vigorous, upward vitality, and it also carries the meaning of rolling in wealth, making it very suitable as a guardian of the home. Many flower lovers place it in the living room, study and other places.

When caring for a ZZ plant, you must not overlook these 3 details, so it grows straight upward and its leaves are so green they drip with oil.

1. Light control

The ZZ plant is a semi-shade plant and likes soft light. Light that is too strong or too weak will affect its growth. Being able to catch some morning or evening sun is best, especially in summer, when sunlight before 9 a.m. and after 4 p.m. is most suitable. But do not let it receive overly strong sunlight, otherwise it will easily scorch the leaves and reduce its ornamental value.

2. Good ventilation

Summer is a peak period for all kinds of pests and diseases, and the crown of the ZZ plant is quite dense, so its ventilation is inherently poor. If it is then placed in a poorly ventilated spot, the high-temperature, high-humidity environment can easily trigger pests and diseases.

Besides pruning it appropriately, you also need to put it in a place with good ventilation that is not too humid, so it should also be placed in a higher position,

3. Spraying potassium dihydrogen phosphate to hasten hardening

During the peak growth season, the ZZ plant will put out many new shoots, and the branches and leaves are rather tender and fragile with low resistance, making them very easy for pests and diseases to invade. So to raise its resistance and help its branches and leaves harden faster, usually spray the leaves 2-3 times with a 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution, to promote the hardening and filling out of its young leaf rachises and newly emerged leaves.

Note that after Mid-Autumn Festival, if the plant still has tender branches and leaves, in order to help it get through winter better, you should also spray the plant 2-3 times with a potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution.

That is all for the care of the ZZ plant. If flower lovers have other additions, you can share them with everyone in the comments section below. To learn more about flower-growing knowledge, you can follow Huajianke!
