Analysis of the reasons for failure in specialty breeding

With rapid economic development, people's demand for mountain delicacies and game is growing day by day. Various wild animals have become the first-choice dishes for entertaining distinguished guests in restaurants, which has also driven the vigorous development of specialty animal farms. In recent years, a number of specialty breeding households with annual incomes of 800,000 yuan or several million yuan have appeared in many places, but some people have also been found to fail in their investments. How can specialty breeding investment be made more efficient and safer? According to the author's investigation, more than 78% of these breeders failed because of improper selection of the supplying farm in the early stage, specifically as follows:

    1. Short time in business: Such farms account for about 46%. These farms have been in business for less than ten years. Due to a lack of practical experience, they are still in the exploratory stage themselves, cannot provide professional technical services, cannot guarantee the quality of breeding products, and have no credibility, making failure very easy.

    2. Few breeding staff: only a mere 20--30 people, which indicates a small scale, no strength, no credibility, an inability to clearly divide work, no dedicated personnel for training, and an inability to provide timely and accurate technical service support. The criteria for judging the scale of a farm are the number of employees and the number of senior experts, not merely the area of pens and the number of animals. Some farms have many animals because their products are unsold, which misleads many buyers.

    3. Incomplete certificates: Such farms account for about 80%. Professional farms can provide the "Breeding Livestock and Poultry Production and Operation License", the "Wild Animal Domestication and Breeding License", the "Wild Animal Business and Processing License", the "ISO Quality Management System Certification", the "Environmental Impact Assessment Report", and so on. None of the above certificates can be missing. Having only some of them indicates that the certificates are incomplete, and the product quality, technical level, and legality of the farm are all unreliable.

    4. Too little fame and too small a scale: Such farms account for about 25%. These farms have no specialized technical facilities, such as production and research rooms, laboratories, training rooms, and other professionally classified sites, and are even less able to provide product buyback services.

    5. No professional technical training: Most buyers have no specialty breeding experience and urgently need professional training to solve the problems they will encounter during their first breeding attempt. Many of those who fail did not receive training from experts when buying breeding stock, or merely had a keeper casually explain some things from a book. Without practical training, and without dedicated after-sales service based on customer records, the purchase of breeding stock ends in failure.

Therefore, when buying breeding stock, great attention must be paid to selecting a professional farm. Only by avoiding the above five situations can breeding risks be reduced and breeding success be ensured.
