Correct Methods and Technical Key Points for Raising Pigs with Biogas Slurry
When biogas slurry is used as an additive for raising pigs, feeding generally starts when the pigs reach 20 kg. At the beginning, add biogas slurry at a feed-to-slurry ratio of 10:0.5-1.0; after one month, add it at 5:1; for pigs over 50 kg, add it at 4:1 or 3:1. Once the maximum proportion is reached, it should be kept stable.
Adding method: the feed can first be mixed with a certain amount of clean water, then biogas slurry added and mixed well. The feed can also be mixed directly with biogas slurry to feed the pigs.
Precautions for raising pigs with biogas slurry:
1. When feeding pigs, the biogas slurry must be taken from the discharge outlet of a biogas digester that is operating normally and producing gas. For newly built digesters or digesters with a major refill, they can only be used 1.5 months after loading, and dead animals and pesticides must not be put in.
2. Before pigs are fed biogas slurry, measures should be taken to deworm them.
3. For young pigs under 20 kg, biogas slurry is not suitable as a feed additive.
4. When taking biogas slurry, be careful to push aside the floating scum and scoop out the clear liquid.
5. Biogas slurry must not be given in excess, so as to avoid causing diarrhea.
