Introduction to Excellent Buffalo Breeds and Characteristics

Buffalo characteristics:

The buffalo is a large economic animal of tropical and subtropical regions, with advantages such as a robust build, a gentle temperament, tolerance of high temperature and high humidity, tolerance of coarse feed, strong disease resistance, and a long service life.

Buffalo have a high conversion rate for the energy and crude protein of roughage and a strong ability to digest crude fiber. They can make full use of large amounts of green roughage that cannot be directly used by humans and other livestock and poultry, turning agricultural by-products into nutritionally complete food essential to humans, and they do not compete with people or livestock for grain.

Common buffalo feeds include the following:

Female buffalo generally begin producing milk at around 3 years of age, with a lactation cycle of about 300 days, and the golden period of milk production generally occurs from the 2nd to the 4th calving. With proper feeding and management, female buffalo can continue producing milk until 15 to 20 years of age.
