Deng Yunfu Builds a Road to Prosperity with Eggs in Hand

On June 20, walking into the chicken farm of the Tahe Fuyou Laying Hen Breeding Cooperative in the green ecological breeding area of the 31st Regiment of the Second Division of the **Production and Construction Corps, what surprised this writer was that laying hens were leisurely pecking at feed, while some workers nearby were still installing and debugging various pieces of equipment. Only after asking around did it become clear that this was the new approach of cooperative head Deng Yunfu: "build while raising chickens, and generate returns while building," so that the chicken farm would begin producing economic benefits from the very moment construction started, and laying hen production would not stop because of the farm's construction.

At the end of 2015, Deng Yunfu of Company 1 of the 31st Regiment, with his own chicken farm at a scale of only 10,000 birds, was thinking about expanding his breeding scale. Just then, the regiment farm was vigorously supporting workers and the masses in diversifying their income, so Deng Yunfu signed up with his company and sought its support. In early 2016, the 31st Regiment began introducing its "mass entrepreneurship and innovation" policy, bringing hope to Deng Yunfu, who was short of funds for expanding his breeding scale. Thus, with strong support from the regiment Party committee, the 31st Regiment set aside a plot of land in the ecological breeding area and let Deng Yunfu build a chicken farm there free of charge. Deng Yunfu raised 1.6 million yuan himself, and the regiment farm provided him with a 2 million yuan small subsidized-interest loan, promptly closing the funding gap for building his chicken farm.

Before building the chicken farm, Deng Yunfu had returned to the inland regions and inspected many advanced chicken farms, learning a great deal of advanced inland breeding technology and management concepts. After returning, he began working on the construction of the chicken farm. From site selection, design and material purchasing for the chicken farm, Deng Yunfu handled everything himself. As soon as the engineering staff arrived at the site and began construction, Deng Yunfu started working on introducing laying pullets. While the main building of the breeding house was being built, indoor automated chicken-raising equipment began to be installed and debugged. When the roof of the first chicken house on the farm was capped, Deng Yunfu's 26,000 laying hens moved into the breeding house.

The temperature outside the breeding house reached 40 degrees Celsius, but inside it was cool and breezy, and not a single breeder could be seen in the entire farm. Just as everyone was wondering, Deng Yunfu walked out from a room nearby. After hearing the purpose of the visit, he told this writer: "This chicken farm covers 13 mu and can hold 52,000 laying hens in stock, and it was built entirely according to the requirements of a standard automated chicken farm." He explained while showing everyone the various automated facilities on the farm. This chicken farm adopts a model of building while introducing laying hens for raising, achieving "one-stop" automated operations from feed addition, egg collection, manure collection to air exchange.

"The chicken farm can produce 3,000 kilograms of fresh eggs per day. In addition to meeting the needs of the Tarim reclamation area, the eggs are also sold as far away as Korla, Aksu and other areas. Annual income is around 400,000 yuan, and it can provide employment for 5 workers and members of the masses." Looking at the neat rows of chicken coops and the laying hens eating feed, Deng Yunfu smiled with satisfaction.
