Mini Hedgehog Picture Gallery: Admire the Cute Little Hedgehogs

The mini hedgehog, scientifically known as the African pygmy hedgehog, is native to Africa. It has a gentle temperament and a slender body. In its juvenile stage it can fit inside a teapot or an egg cup. They generally do not cause skin allergies, are nocturnal in habit, and live on cat food or chicken.
Mini hedgehogs should be kept in an environment of 21°C or above, and because they are good at climbing, they should not be kept in iron cages. They are prone to health problems including poor digestion, fatty liver and heart disease. Their lifespan is generally 3 to 8 years, but if they develop the paralysis-causing “hedgehog wobble syndrome”, their life is at risk.
An adult mini hedgehog weighs more than 300 grams and measures around 12 cm in body length. The fur on its belly and face is white or cream-colored, and its white spines are mixed with black or coffee-colored ones. Its face may have darker coloring like a mask, and the lower parts of its legs are usually darker in color too. Its ears are shorter than its spines and are surrounded and covered by hair.
Captive-bred hedgehogs are smaller than wild ones, but their price is very high, with each one selling for more than 200 pounds in the UK.
