Many flower lovers know that when growing flowers, three parts depend on fertilizer and seven parts on water. This shows how important water is to flowers. And some say that flowers are basically killed by watering, which is not entirely unreasonable. Watering too often or too little, watering at the wrong time, or not watering thoroughly, and so on, can all cause root rot, yellow leaves, and failure to bloom in plants.

In the daily process of growing flowers, when it comes to watering flowers, there are some little tricks that flower lovers often use, such as watering flowers with rice water or with vegetable-washing water. In fact, besides these two kinds of watering water, there is another kind of watering water that is most suitable for growing flowers. That is fruit peel enzyme.

Fruit peel enzyme is the liquid produced by fermenting leftover fruit peels such as apple peels, orange peels, and watermelon rinds.

This liquid contains a variety of trace elements including nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, and is rich in nutrients, making it especially suitable for watering and growing flowers. The benefits of enzyme do not stop there. After it is poured into a flower pot, it can effectively kill microorganisms in the potting soil and also loosen the soil and regulate the soil's pH.

How to make enzyme from fruit peels:

First collect various fruit peels, brown sugar or black sugar, and clean water. Then mix them in a ratio of 3:1:10, put the mixture into a mineral water bucket, seal it, and place it in a cool place for about three months. To speed up fermentation, during the first week after sealing, remember to open the lid every day to release gas; after half a month, release gas once every three days until no gas comes out. Leave it to sit like this for four to five months, and then it is ready to use.

When using it, filter out the liquid, and remember to dilute it before watering flowers. The recommended dilution ratio is water:enzyme = 10:1.

When watering flowers, do it according to the growth habits of each type of flower. For example, for clivia (Clivia miniata), water once a week in summer, and at this time you can mix in a little enzyme. Fruit peel enzyme is basically suitable for all flowers, and plant roots have a strong affinity for and adaptability to it. However, when using enzyme to water flowers, note that you must not water at noon, especially in hot summer; it is recommended to water flowers in the evening.
