90% of flowers die from improper watering, and growers need to pay attention

This is day 926 of Blue Demon's daily original article
Through studying the previous articles shared by Blue Demon, you have already gained some mastery of repotting flowers and helping them recover after transplanting. The next step is how to care for them. When it comes to care, the first and most important thing is watering,
90% of flowers die from watering, and this is even more true for beginner growers. In fact, last year Blue Demon already launched a series of courses on watering household flowers. Those who studied them all gained some understanding of how to water flowers and mastered watering techniques.
But many flower lovers were unable to attend Blue Demon's courses, and they still only half understand how to water flowers, and cannot quite figure it out. Just like the flower lover friend above. As the most important daily task in growing flowers, watering directly concerns the life and death of potted flowers!
Many flower lovers encounter this problem:Flowers bought from the flower market wither within two months, or soon die, or linger half-dead. Many people think, I take care of them quite carefully, so why did they die?
In fact, your flowers often die from your overly meticulous care. When Blue Demon says this, you may still feel a little unconvinced inside, thinking that growing plants should naturally involve giving love, so how can you say that?
Yes, growing plants requires us to give love. Raising flowers and plants is like raising children. It requires us to give a lot, including not only hard sweat, but also our patience, carefulness, and love.
But love must not become spoiling! We all know that children who grow up spoiled cannot withstand setbacks and have domineering personalities. In the same way, flowers grown in spoiling also cannot withstand wind and rain! Blue Demon has received consultations from very, very many flower lovers, and after summing them up, 90% of flower lovers' flowers die from being overly spoiled!
Signs of spoiling potted flowersBlue Demon keeps saying that you spoil your flowers too much, so what exactly are the signs of this spoiling? Below, Blue Demon will explain them one by one.1. Always afraid the flowers will die of thirstMany flower lovers have this thought, especially beginners, and it can be said that this problem is widespread.
They always feel that if they do not water for a day, the flowers may dry to death, since water is the foundation of plant survival. But plant root growth requires an environment of alternating wet and dry. This is like us people: occasionally soaking in a bath feels very comfortable and relieves fatigue, but if you were made to soak in the bathtub for a day, how would you feel?
Going beyond the limit is as bad as falling short. If you keep watering the pot continuously, the potting soil remains in a water-retaining state for a long time, and the result is that the plant roots soak in the pot 24 hours a day. Being in this oxygen-free environment for a long time, plant roots carry out anaerobic respiration, producing fermentation products such as alcohol. What kinds of things ferment? The answer is simple: spoiled, rotten things!
So after you water the pot every few days, in one or two months you will find that your potted plant has wilted. That is because the roots have already rotted, and this kind of root damage is irreversible. Often by the time you discover it, there is no way to save it.2. Love that stays on the surfaceWhy is it said that love that stays on the surface also counts as spoiling? In fact, this is exactly the same as the first case of constantly watering.
The most direct sign of love that stays on the surface is watering the pot as soon as you see the surface of the potting soil is a little dry. But each time you water, you do not water much, that is, you do not water thoroughly. Over time, this causes the surface of the potting soil to often be moist, while the soil below is dry. This "wet on top, dry below" environment easily causes plant roots to dry to death. Because plant roots grow downward into the soil, not on the surface, and everyone should know this.
3. Love based on hearsayThe third sign of overly spoiling potted plants is hearsay. What is hearsay? I believe everyone has had this experience: when you do not know how to water your pot, you blindly follow other people's watering methods.
For example: asking the flower shop owner when buying flowers. Another example: reading all kinds of flower-growing articles, and if the article says water once every few days, then you water once every few days, without considering your own actual situation at all! Flower lovers who see this article by Blue Demon, how many of you have been fooled by this kind of article saying to water once every few days? Feel free to leave Blue Demon a comment below. When Blue Demon first started growing flowers, it was the same. I saw others say pothos should be watered once every 2 days, and in summer watered 2 times a day. As a result, my pothos did not live past one month!
Previously, Blue Demon also received consultations from many flower lovers asking how many days apart their pots should be watered. I only had one answer: water when dry, keep moist when wet; water thoroughly when completely dry! Blue Demon never tells flower lovers how many days apart to water. You must know that every flower lover's potting soil condition, growing environment, plant size, and climate conditions are all different, so naturally water consumption is also different!
Since there are so many differences, how can it be uniformly said what flowers should be watered once every few days? Even two twins growing up in the same family environment will have their own different personalities, let alone different plants grown in completely different places? So do not hurt your potted plants in the name of love anymore!
Your potted plant is like your child. What it needs is your true, heartfelt, unconditional love! You need to know what they truly need. So what exactly should we do? Please continue to follow tomorrow's update!
