Keeping a potted plant indoors not only decorates the home but also lifts the mood and nourishes the spirit, adding joy to life. Roses are a very popular flowering plant and are much loved by people.

To care for roses and get them to bloom more, you need to let them grow more new canes. As the saying goes, no branches, no flowers. So,you can place a big rock on the rose, and it will keep shooting out new canes, with flowers covering the branches, so lush and thriving!

If you want roses to grow more new canes, there is a little trick that is simple and super effective. Lay the rose branch horizontally and weigh it down with a rock. This lets nutrients flow back to the roots. After about seven days of horizontal training, along with proper care, you will see new canes emerging from the soil, and once they grow into branches, you will see flowers.

Besides this little method, you can also add fully rotted willow bark to the soil, because once willow bark meets water it breaks down into acetic acid and salicylic acid. Salicylic acid can disinfect and sterilize, and it promotes rooting too!

After thoroughly crushing fully rotted willow bark, mix it into the potting soil to prevent root rot, make the roots strong and sturdy, promote rooting, and keep new canes shooting up to encourage more blooms.

Some gardening friends also share that roses planted in the ground shoot up new canes very easily, and that is because they often get rained on. Rainwater contains trace elements such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, which fall into the soil and provide nutrients to the plants, making the roots strong and sturdy. So after rain, you will find many new canes suddenly emerging from the soil.

Therefore, when caring for roses, you can often collect some rainwater to use instead of tap water for watering. It has no side effects, can supplement nutrients, and even saves on the water bill, killing two birds with one stone!
