Summer is here, and many plant lovers like to keep a few potted flowers at home. They not only decorate the room, but in summer they can also purify the air and regulate the indoor temperature and humidity. Pothos is one of the very best houseplants, and it is especially easy to grow - you could say that if you snap off a branch and toss it in a pot, it will sprout, take root and fill the pot. But because of the high summer temperatures, many plant lovers say they just cannot grow pothos well - either the leaves turn yellow or it simply will not grow, and it is really worrying to watch.

Today I would like to share a little trick with you. Pothos not growing well in summer? Give it a spoonful of this water every 10 days, and the leaves will stay glossy green for a whole year and fill the pot fast! This magical water is soybean water. We can cook soybeans in a pressure cooker, let them cool, put them in a clean bottle and ferment them. Once fermented, we can use them to grow pothos.

One method is for the rather lazy plant lovers among us: every 10 days we can put 2-3 fermented soybeans in the flowerpot and then cover them with soil. The nutrients in the soybeans are released rather slowly, and when we water the pothos, the soybean nutrients can be supplied to the pothos for it to absorb. Generally, after using this two or three times, the pothos will grow glossy green for a whole year without any fertiliser.

The second method is to use the fermented soybean water to grow pothos. You must dilute it with water before watering the pothos; generally the ratio of soybean water to clear water is 1:10. This way the pothos will not get excess nutrients, and it can still maintain an ample supply of nutrients.

Although evaporation is rather fast in summer, you must be careful when growing pothos: just water it in the right amount, and never let the roots become waterlogged from overwatering. Otherwise the leaves will easily turn yellow. The midday sun in summer is rather strong and the temperature is very high, so be sure to provide shade and cool things down.

Plant lovers who like pothos can give this little trick a try. If you have any other plant-growing experience, you are welcome to share it with everyone in the comment box below!
