What Are the Prospects for Beef Cattle Farming? A Comprehensive Analysis of Market Potential

In recent years, overall prospects for beef cattle farming have been very good: beef cattle numbers are on a downward trend, while the prices of live beef cattle and their products have been climbing all the way, so this year's cattle market is expected to remain strong.

The Cost of Beef Cattle Farming

1. Feed cost: 530 yuan (excluding staff wages).

2. Water and electricity: calculated at 40 yuan per head per year.

3. Breeding fee: calculated at 150 yuan per head per year.

4. Epidemic prevention fee: calculated at 40 yuan per head per year.

5. Treatment fee: calculated at 300 yuan per head per year.

6. Depreciation of the beef cattle itself: assuming one beef cow is worth 10,000 yuan with a service life of 5 years, annual depreciation is 2,000 yuan.

Total Annual Income from Farming

1. Annual income when a male calf is born: 9,200 yuan per head.

(1) Fresh milk income: annual fresh milk output of 5 tonnes, calculated at 1,800 yuan per tonne, giving an income of 9,000 yuan.

(2) Male calf income: the birth value of a male calf born during the year is 200 yuan.

2. Annual income when a female calf is born: 13,000 yuan per head.

(1) Fresh milk income: annual fresh milk output of 5 tonnes, calculated at 1,800 yuan per tonne, giving an income of 9,000 yuan.

(2) Female calf income: 4,000 yuan.

Annual Net Income

1. Annual profit when a male calf is born: annual income - annual feed cost = 9,200 yuan - 6,030 yuan = 3,170 yuan.

2. Annual profit when a female calf is born: annual income - annual feed cost = 13,000 yuan - 6,030 yuan = 6,970 yuan.

In summary, it can be seen that the annual net profit from raising one adult beef cow is between 3,000 yuan and 6,000 yuan. For a beef cattle farm with 10 head, assuming half of the calves born each year are male and half are female, the farm's annual net income would be 50,000 yuan.
