Correct Methods and Technical Key Points for Deworming Cattle in Winter

After a summer and autumn of grazing, cattle are very likely to have some internal parasites. In winter, you should take the time to deworm grazing cattle.
Killing Nematodes
1. Trichlorfon. Trichlorfon is a broad-spectrum deworming drug, with good killing effects on various digestive tract nematodes as well as lungworms, stomach bot fly larvae, and Fasciolopsis buski; for cattle, 20-40 mg/kg. Trichlorfon has a strong odor, making it difficult to feed mixed with feed, so it is best to grind it into powder, mix with water, and administer orally.
2. Ivermectin. Ivermectin has a good killing effect on internal nematodes and is a newly emerging deworming drug.
Killing Flukes
To kill flukes, bithionol can be used. Bithionol, also known as Bitin, is effective against Fasciola hepatica, paramphistomes, and Moniezia tapeworms, but it works well against adult worms and poorly against immature worms; for cattle, 40-80 mg/kg.
Killing Schistosomes
To kill schistosomes, praziquantel can be used. Praziquantel is a pyrazinoisoquinoline compound, highly effective and low in toxicity, and is the most ideal anti-schistosome drug for human use; it has killing effects on schistosome larvae, schistosomula, and adult worms.
