Ting Hsin protests its innocence in newspaper ads, claiming it is also a victim

For two consecutive days, Ting Hsin Group has emphasized through open letters to employees and notices addressed to consumers published in major newspapers that it is an innocent victim and did not deceive the consuming public.

The four Wei brothers of the Ting Hsin Group, including Wei Ying-chou, Wei Ying-chiao, Wei Ying-chung and Wei Ying-hsing, issued an open letter to their colleagues on the 17th, using "three beliefs and one explanation" to set out the reasons and grievances for why they had delayed coming forward to explain after the incident, including belief in the rationality and conscience of the people of Taiwan, China, belief in the judiciary and belief in the government.

The letter also stressed that Wei Chuan and Ting Hsin Oil actively sealed, actively tested and actively removed products from shelves in the Chang Chi blending oil incident, and did not deceive consumers or delay removing products from shelves.

The open letter stated, "When the Ting Hsin oil incident occurred, we always believed, and we also asked ourselves, that we neither blended oil ourselves, nor instigated oil blending, nor added copper chlorophyllin, intending to deceive consumers. The judicial investigation will certainly clarify this carefully and clear our name. Therefore, in order to avoid interfering with the fair investigation by the judiciary, we deliberately endured in silence and did not argue against incorrect or even negative media reports."

Yesterday, Ting Hsin again had a law firm act on behalf of Wei Chuan to publish in major newspapers a notice to consumers, explaining the matter through "one truth," "one clarification" and "two appeals."

The "one truth" stated: Wei Chuan did not adulterate, did not blend oil, and was only a victim; the "one clarification" stated: Wei Chuan is not "black-hearted" and has absolutely not made "excessive profits." The clarification stated: no government agency has alleged that Wei Chuan engaged in "adulteration" or "oil blending," so Wei Chuan is not black-hearted.

The lawyers appealed to consumers not to lose confidence in Wei Chuan because of the complex reporting and information surrounding the Chang Chi oil incident, some of which may be biased or defamatory, and also appealed to the media to give Wei Chuan and Ting Hsin Oil an opportunity for balanced reporting and to return to "the truth" and "reality."
