Every year at Valentine's Day, roses become even more valuable, because roses are the darling between lovers and couples. But do you know how to plant rose seeds? Do you know the planting method for rose seeds? Today, the editor will introduce the rose seed planting method to you!
Choosing the planting soil
Rose seeds have a low germination rate, so the soil generally used for sowing needs to be loose, breathable, and highly water-retentive. The soil generally used is a mix of vermiculite, peat, sphagnum moss, perlite, osmund fiber, and so on. If conditions allow, you can also mix it yourself; if conditions do not allow, ordinary slightly acidic soil can also be used, but the soil must contain no foreign matter.
Treatment of rose seeds
1. First soak the rose seeds in warm water at about 40 degrees. After the water cools, continue soaking for 4-6 hours, then remove the seeds. Soaked seeds sprout more easily.
2. Put the seeds into the soil (note: the soil needs to be loose, breathable, and highly water-retentive). Generally, 5-8 seeds can be sown per container. After germination, keep one stronger seedling depending on the growth condition of the young seedlings; after germination, thin the seedlings and keep 1-3 young seedlings as appropriate. After sowing, cover the container with plastic wrap (a plastic bag or plastic film also works), and prick a few small holes in the plastic wrap for ventilation. Place the container in sunlight and maintain a temperature of about 20 degrees. Most seeds can germinate after one week. After germination, wait until the seedlings are sturdy, then transplant them into the ground.
Treatment of rose seedlings
1. Planting: In the Yellow River basin and areas to its south, they can be planted in the ground and overwinter in the open. In cold northern regions, they should be grown in pots and overwinter indoors. When potted, use a cultivation soil mixed with leaf mold, garden soil, and river sand, and add an appropriate amount of rotted manure or cake fertilizer and compound fertilizer. After planting, water once thoroughly, place in a shaded area for several days to let the seedlings recover, then move them into sunlight for growing.
2. Light and temperature: Sufficient sunlight promotes good growth. Whether planted in the ground or in pots, they should be placed in a sunny place and receive more than 4 hours of direct sunlight every day. They cannot be placed for a long time in a place indoors with insufficient light. In winter, bring them indoors and place them in a sunny spot.
3. Temperature: The suitable growing temperature is 12-28°C, and it can tolerate a low temperature of -20°C. In the Zhengzhou area, it can safely overwinter in the open.
4. Watering: Before planting, apply an appropriate amount of organic fertilizer in the planting hole, and water thoroughly after planting.
5. Fertilizing: Ground-planted roses are not strict about water and fertilizer, and generally 3 fertilizings are enough. The first is pre-flowering fertilizer, in spring when the buds...
