When is the blooming season for hydrangeas?

Hydrangeas are pure white and full, large and beautiful, and their flowers can turn red or blue, making them a delight to the eyes and soothing to the spirit. They are a common potted ornamental flowering shrub. Hydrangeas were cultivated quite early in China; they were planted in the Jiangnan gardens built during the Ming and Qing dynasties, and the parks built in the early 20th century also could not do without hydrangea plantings. Modern parks and scenic areas plant them in large masses to form landscapes. Now let us take a look at when the blooming season for hydrangeas is!

When is the blooming season for hydrangeas?

1. Hydrangea flowering time: Hydrangeas bloom in late May to July each year.

2. Hydrangea blooming duration: The time from blooming to fading is about 25 days.

Why do hydrangea flower colors change?

Because the soil or medium in which bigleaf hydrangeas are planted, as well as the pH of the organic fertilizer or nutrient solution applied, differ, their flowers will produce different colors, and they change along with changes in the pH of the soil or medium. Flower color generally changes from dark to light, that is, from light purple and blue gradually to pinkish red, and even white.

How can the blooming season of hydrangeas be extended?

1. Remove the leaves of the hydrangea as much as possible, spray the flower and leaf surfaces with a 500-fold dilution of Xin Gao Zhi Mo (New High Lipid Film), and slow the evaporation of water and nutrients from the flowers.

2. After harvesting, spray with Xin Gao Zhi Mo and immediately put the flower stems into water.

3. It is best to harvest in the cooler morning hours, and to harvest those plants with half to 2/3 of their flower buds about to open.

4. Place the hydrangeas in an acidic environment with a pH of 4.0-5.0, then ensure at least 4 hours of rehydration. During transport, first spray a 500-fold dilution of Xin Gao Zhi Mo on the flower surfaces to prevent water evaporation, and wrap the flower stems with a hose and cotton cloth soaked in water.

5. Hydrangeas should not be stored in cold storage for more than 2 days; the more suitable storage temperature is 3-4°C or lower.
