Profit margins too low? Gas stations plan to close in protest

In response to the gas station association's plan to negotiate with CPC Corporation because profit margins are too low, and not ruling out a simultaneous three-day closure, the Fair Trade Commission said yesterday that it has already opened an investigation and will impose penalties in accordance with the law if concerted action is involved.
The Fair Trade Commission said yesterday that media reports stated that the National Federation of Gas Station Commercial Associations of the Republic of China, because profit margins are too low, will seek negotiations with CPC Corporation, Taiwan after the Lunar New Year, and if CPC does not raise the profit margins on gasoline and diesel, it will launch a simultaneous 3-day closure of gas stations across Taiwan, China.
The Fair Trade Commission said that in order to maintain trading order in the domestic oil products market, it has immediately opened an investigation on its own initiative and dispatched personnel to investigate; if the gas station association or operators are involved in a violation of the Fair Trade Act through concerted action, the Fair Trade Commission will impose penalties in accordance with the law.
