Planting time for loofah

The growth of loofah is inseparable from the climate environment it needs, so when to sow loofah depends on the local climate conditions and the characteristics of the loofah variety. Strictly speaking, loofah can be grown all year round. According to different planting times, it can be divided into spring loofah, summer loofah, autumn loofah and winter loofah. Let's take a look at their planting times below!

Spring loofah

Spring loofah: In general, in the north, loofah is planted around Qingming Festival, while in the south the weather warms earlier and is suitable for loofah cultivation, so loofah can be planted as early as February.

Summer loofah

Summer loofah is planted from late April to early July and comes to market from June to October. This time period can be adjusted according to local conditions. Of course, if planted earlier, the loofah can be harvested earlier, while if planted later, you can only eat loofah later.

Autumn loofah

Autumn loofah is cultivated by direct sowing after seed soaking, and the time is preferably August to September. Varieties more suitable for autumn planting include ridged loofah such as Chunfeng loofah, Xiaxuan loofah and Yalu No. 1 loofah, and ordinary loofah such as Changdu shuigua and Qingpi loofah.

Winter loofah

In winter, the time for planting loofah in a greenhouse is around November, and it can be harvested from February to March of the following year. The flowering and fruiting period of loofah requires relatively high temperatures. The structure of the greenhouse for planting loofah must be scientific and reasonable, ensuring good lighting and heat preservation performance, so as to meet the temperature requirements for winter loofah growth.
