Market warms up, electric bus prospects look promising

With fewer working days in February, Aleees, the leading electric bus system maker, reported that its consolidated revenue for the single month fell to NT$28 million, a monthly decline of 40.8%, though it was up 20.2% year-on-year, and market demand has gradually been warming up.

According to statistics and forecasts from the Industrial Technology Research Institute, global lithium iron phosphate battery cathode material is expected to grow about 20% to 30% this year, sweeping away the haze of uncertainty that hung over the industry's prospects last year. Compared with other electrochemical materials, lithium iron phosphate batteries are more resistant to high temperatures, allowing ordinary vehicles parked outdoors to no longer need to start fans for cooling.

F-Aleees said that due to technological advances and improved cost efficiency, it began cutting prices in January of this year. Aleees has nearly 3,000 tons of production capacity and, together with its customers, is driving the expansion and growth of the industrial chain.

Aleees has frequently reported good news about its layout in mainland China. Acting as a system integrator, it commissions local contract manufacturing in mainland China and thereby creates local gross domestic product. Its battery-swapping model, which offers the flexibility to adjust routes and planning, has also won favor with governments in various places. Recently it signed cooperation agreements with Nanchang Bailujia Bus Co. and Yuyao City in Zhejiang to jointly promote new energy vehicles.

F-Aleees said it uses modular packaging to sell bus bodies, batteries and battery-swapping stations separately, and is targeting the market with Siemens parallel systems, enabling all players interested in operating in the electric vehicle market to take part in this emerging industry together.
