Joining hands with industry, government, and academia, Advantech builds smart cities

Facing the surging wave of IoT and smart cities, Advantech is driving a paradigm shift in smart cities and IoT, and will join hands with Chunghwa Telecom, Farglory Group, Taoyuan Airport, and the Industrial Technology Research Institute to jointly bring about industry implementation and build Taiwan, China into a major supply hub for smart cities.

Advantech Chairman Liu Kezhen (K.C. Liu) said that relying on the strength of a single manufacturer alone makes it difficult to meet the broad range of industry needs of smart cities.

He said that Advantech hopes to use industry, government, academia, and research cooperation to first clearly spread the concepts of smart cities and IoT, which can not only promote cross-sector industry alliances, but also cultivate more cross-disciplinary IoT talent through student innovation.

In order to further upgrade its own innovation energy, Advantech established an Innovation Management Center last year, with newly appointed Chief Technology Officer Yang Ruixiang serving as convener, as the source of Advantech's innovation energy, introducing advanced industry technologies, and through industry-academia cooperation, developing valuable product designs and business models, and even updating corporate processes, hoping thereby to achieve more strategic and efficient industry-academia exchange and internal innovation.
